Reality Dating Drama - Top 5 Reality Dating Shows on TV Today

Brandi Montgomery
Reality TV is like the farthest thing from reality, yet high addictive. Today most shows on TV are in fact reality TV, and probably the top rated ones. Here are the best 5 dating shows on TV today.

1. The Bachelor/Bachelorette

The bachelor/bachelorette is always full of drama and that is exactly what the viewers look for in reality TV. Women myself included get caught up in the what is going to happen next, or who are they going to eliminate type of questions that keep us watching. They start out with 25 men or women and each week the number gets smaller and smaller as the eliminations happen each week. As the number gets smaller the more intense the show becomes. The feelings start showing, and all the jealousy emerges. Personally I think the producers only pick the people by how much they can bring to the show in order to get better ratings. They must be doing something right though because it is the most popular reality dating show on TV today. The bachelor/bachelorette is shown on ABC.

2. Cheaters

Cheaters might not be considered a dating show to some people, but it has been on for probably 10 years and is still as popular than ever. This show is based on spying on a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife, who is suspected of cheating and they always are. So a camera crew follows the cheater around catching them in the act and then gives the accuser the opportunity to confront the cheater. There is usually a lot of drama and fighting that has to be broken up, so just picture Jerry Springer and you will get an accurate picture. This show isn't for everyone, but is still a classic in my book.

3. Tool Academy

Tool academy is one of my guilty pleasures, I feel the need to watch it every season. The first two seasons were about girls bringing their "tool" boyfriends to the academy, but this season their are two "tool" girls also. The beginning of the show is when the tools think they are just partying and then get a rude awakening when the girlfriends are brought out. Throughout the show they go through therapy sessions and the one who changes the most is declared the winner. Every week one tool is voted out by the therapist. Of course it is packed full of fighting and secrets to keep you watching and wondering what is going to happen next. Tool academy can be seen on vh1 at 9/8 central on Sundays.

4. For the Love of Ray J

Ray J is a singer, you might know him by his song "Sexy can i" which was very popular among people in their teens and 20's. His sister who also makes some appearances on the show is Brandy. This show is similar to the bachelor, except with major twists. In my opinion the girls that go on the show are just trying to get TV time to get famous and most do. Ray J just finished his second season of the show and has pick a girl each season but doesn't seem to be able to stay with them. The most popular of all the episodes is the reunion special where all the girls get to come back and of course drama erupts to make better TV. For the love of Ray J appears on VH1.

5. Love Games

Love games is a dating show that has brought three of the girls from The Bad Girls Club, which is also a very popular show on oxygen together to find love. Although it just started I think it will be one of the most popular watched of all the dating shows. It relates well with women in their 20's and 30's who like to live that wild party life. Love games is on Tuesday nights at 11/10 central on oxygen.

I think you are correct in saying "For the Love of Ray J" is a top dating show. It is one of the most watched dating shows ever on television. The format of Rap artist looking for a girlfriend drew one of largest number of viewers ever, probably because of the world wide popularity of Rap and Hip Hop.
