Reality Television Subjects Us to Denise Richards and Dina Lohan

Basic Cable Entertainment Channel- E Network Has Out Done Itself

Jacob Twist
Basic cable entertainment channel- E network has out done itself, with its high caliber, top notch programming.

I am really being sarcastic, E specializes in reality television with shows like Keeping up with the Kardashians, Dr. 90210 and The Anna Nicole show starring the late Anna Nicole Smith. The leader and president is Mr. Ted Harbert, former president of the ABC network in the 1990's.

This guy was on the upward climb at ABC-Disney at the same time as Robert Iger. Now Iger is at the top spot at Disney after Michael Eisner stepped down.
Wow how the mighty have fallen! It was Harbert who canceled the ABC drama, My So-Called Life, due to low low ratings. It was put against NBC's Friends on Thursdays at 8pm. And we all know which one won that battle. Back then MSCL averaged about 10 million viewers, about half the viewers of what so-called "hit shows" did then.

Well back to my original rant, it is now under Mr.Harbert's reign at E that we are being introduced, subjected to a couple of Hollywood media attention whores.
The first one being Denise Richards and her new reality tv show "Denise Richards: It's Complicated".

The network description is- "Opening up her life for the first time Denise Richards lays it all on the line. Follow the high-profile star as she navigates Hollywood, romance and motherhood after a tumultuous year in the tabloids". It is executive produced by Ryan Seacrest, the TV and radio host.

This past week she hit the talk show circuit, from Larry King on CNN to The View on ABC. She claims she did the reality show to give her side of the story.
But its really about scrapping the bottom of the barrel. It says that Denise Richards is pretty much over as an actress. Serious and "real" actors don't do reality TV, at least not on the way up the Hollywood acting ladder.
Ms. Richards, life is easy and simple, people like you complicate it.

The second attention media whore with her own new reality TV show on E is Dina Lohan in Living Lohan. Yes the mother of the year that spawned Lindsay Lohan, aka fire crotch or LiLo. The network description is this: "Being a manager's tough. Being a mom's tougher. Follow Dina Lohan as she guides daughter Ali toward a shot at stardom."

Its is produced by Bunim-Murray Productions, the company behind the Real World on MTV and Maloof Television, the family that owns the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.

Dina is trying to be famous by riding the coattails of her children. Why can't she stay behind the scenes like most stage mothers.
These are 2 shows that will initially get good ratings, since most people like to rubber neck at accident scenes and look at the wrecks.
But if they truly cared about being good mothers, they would not expose their kids on television for all the world to see. Denise has 2 little girls, whose father is Charlie Sheen. Dina has a son and daughter on the show, who's father is Michael Lohan as well Lindsay's.

The good news, E is only subjecting us to very short first seasons, 8 episodes of each show
Production costs for TV shows can get pretty expensive. For example- a one-hour drama can run up to $2.27 million per episode based on an order of 22. A one-hour reality show can run up to $700,000. an episode based on an order of 10. In the end this will only make them less liked by the public. There is no compassion or sympathy towards rich and famous people seriously, really.

Agree totally and glad you took on BOTH shows. I could only bring myself to watch Richards and that was enough!
