Reality TV: Love to Hate It

I am not a huge fan of reality TV shows but there is one that I avidly watch, it is called Solitary. The concept of the game is that there are nine people who don't know or get to meet each other and they basically compete in what are called "Tests" and "Treatments" against each other as well as themselves. The game is not only a competition against others but a revealing insight into one's own mind. The tests that they have to go through seem silly at times and are so times gross, but overall they are meant to see how far you can push yourself.

When the contestants go through "Tests" they are usually awarded something for their efforts such as freedom from the "Treatments" (which decides who stays and who goes) or other special abilities such as real food, something that they brought with them or they can even stunt the progress of the other contestants by either giving them an extra round in the "Treatments" or by taking something away from them or by putting them in a black box wit h sirens blaring for an hour (my personal favorite).

There are very few rules and the only way to leave the game without being eliminated is to quit by pushing a red button in the pod that they have to be confined in and verbally stating that they have quit. They are deprived of sleep and normal food, they do get to eat, but it is a protein bar that the contestants have dubbed "The Turd Bar" because of the obvious brownish turd-like color and shape of the bar. On occasion they do get to eat normal food if not by winning the right to it they do have to do "Treatments" where they get to eat real food that someone eats in some country or that is blended together with several other food types.

At the end the 1 contestant left wins $50,000.00 and bragging rights. If you haven't checked out the show do so it is on the Fox Reality Channel.
