Reality TV: Why I Don't Want to Live with Celebrities Anymore!

Miss Marilyn
While waiting in traffic, I listened as the radio host announced that the Lohan's would be casting their new show to debut on May 26 called 'Living Lohan.' Help me to understand why everyone has a reality show now?

Today, we're already saturated by images of young, careless, celebrities who can abuse the law and live like God's in our society. Now, that they have already got us hooked on their infamous lives, we have to dig deeper and see how they live at home.

Their shows usually focus on what happens on a daily basis. Of course, they are always well dressed and poised. You will never see them waking up with pillow marks in the morning like real life people do. Take for instance, 'Keeping Up with The Kardashians.' It's a show that airs on E! about the famous Kardashian family. Obviously, the ratings keep them on the air. Don't we all want to know what Kim Kardashian will be doing with her life in the next episode.

Just shoot me! No, not the show. The next one to air tonight is called 'Living Lohan.' What now? We have to listen to Dina Lohan tell her producers/manager/agents that she can't stand the paparazzi. Brilliant! Let's just showcase your life on National TV and you will never have to worry about pesky photographers trying to get pictures of your infamous daughter.

Some of the many shows that we have seen come and go throughout the years are such like VH1s 'Hogan Knows Best' with Hulk Hogan, 'Run's House' with Run DMC, 'It's Complicated,' with Denise Richards, 'Kimora' with Kimora Lee Simmons, 'The Girls Next Door' with Hugh Hefner and his three playboy girls, 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' and 'Fatherhood' with Snoop Dogg.

Yes, I have subscribed to many of these. Watching for something great to happen. If you ask me, I would have rather be left out in the dark. When you know too much about a celebrity, it takes away the mystery and the romance. In fact, most of the shows are their last ditch effort to make some money before they are lost in the One Hit Wonder world. Sure, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie had a great time together on their show. But I would have to google their names to figure out what the name of the show was! Why? Because the content is so flimsy that you really don't get any substance from looking at it. ('The Simple Life' I did succumb and google it.)

Do you think that I am being too hard on these celebrities? How about we create a show that features my life. We can call it, 'Living Ceres- Seriously.' It will feature my morning routine of waking up late and struggling to get to work on time, how about my writing for Associated Content. It should make for some great material!

On a serious note, I do wonder about the quality and content of many of these shows. Subscribing to them, can do one of two things. Either, it can make you realize how boring your own life is or how fortunate you are to not be showcased on TV for the world to see. My choice? I would probably pick the latter. How about you?
