but doesn't quite know why.
She feels overcome with sadness,
though she can't seem to cry.
It had been days since she had heard from him,
and when she called he wouldn't answer.
The disappoint and hurt she felt inside,
ate away at her like cancer.
He had claimed that he loved her.
He had claimed that he cared.
She started to think back,
on the times that they had shared.
He never really treated her well,
never showed his appreciation.
What she thought was love,
was just meaningless fornication.
To him, she was disposable,
something he could use and throw away.
And this became apparent to her,
so she called him that day.
In her message she said she was sorry,
but she couldn't see him anymore.
When she hung up the phone, she smiled.
She should have done this months before.
Because now she was free.
She doesn't have to suffer.
It took her too long to realize,
that he never really loved her.
