There are many elements which make this show so great. The characters, the plot, and the actors are just a few of these elements. It helps that Sock is one of the funniest characters there. The devil, escaped demons and the soul of a baby sold to the devil make, for a very intriguing show. The show starts of with the main character Sam. Sam still lives with his parents and works at the Work Bench with his friends Sock, Ben and Andi. Andi is the girl on whom he's had a crush on for a long time but can't seem to tell her. He later discovers that his parents sold his soul to the devil because his father was very ill. The devil told them that they would have to sell him the soul of their first newborn. At that time Sam's parents were positive that they couldn't have any children. But the devil knew that they would be able to conceive. So now the devil can order Sam to do whatever he wants Sam to do. The kind of work that the devil has Sam to do involves souls that have escaped from hell. These souls have powers that could easily kill Sam or anyone else for that matter. His friend Ben had to go to the hospital when the first escaped soul hurt him really badly. For each escaped soul the devil gives Sam a vessel that will capture the soul. The vessels range from a toy car to a small vacuum cleaner. After Sam has captured the escaped soul in the vessel he takes the vessel to the DMV where he gives it to Gladys, the DMV demon. This is basically what happens in every episode, a soul escapes and it's up to Sam to do his job and capture that soul. In between capturing souls Sam has to deal with the crush he has on Andi and trying to find a way to get out of the contract that his parents have with the devil.
Things change when Sam moves to an apartment with Ben and Sock as roommates. He meets two gay demons who don't like the devil and want to kill him. Tony and Steve are the two gay demons and they live in the same building. They are part of a group of other demons who have been planning on killing the devil. Things don't go as planned when their plan backfires. The devil instead kills all the demons. Sam is saved by the devil, and Tony is the only one to survive out of all the other demons after the building in which they were planning on killing the devil blows up. With a vengeance for what happened to Steve, Tony is determined to keep on with the plan of killing the devil. Tony is even more enraged when there is a possibility that Sam is the son of the devil. He then decides to use Sam as bait for the devil and kill them both. By the final episode fans are left wondering whether Sam is really the son of the devil.
Sock and Ben are two characters that bring the fun to this show. Their wild antics is just what this show needs. After each episode fans are left laughing at the stupid yet funny things that happen to Ben and Sock. In the final episode of Season 1 Sock is attracted to this demon. The problem is that every time she kisses him he ends up losing a year of his life. The first time she kisses him he ends up fainting and becoming really tired. The second time he has so much energy and strength that he can practically lift anything. Then while helping Sam try to capture the escaped demon Sock takes the vessel, which was a baseball, and throws the ball towards the demon who was escaping in the car. With his super strength Sock is able to throw the ball through the back window of the car and capture the demon. Ben like Sock has done some crazy things too. Like taking of all his clothes and running around or getting married to a co-worker so that she can get her citizenship but having the plan backfire when she runs away with Ben's money. While doing crazy things like this both Sock and Ben always help Sam capture the escaped souls. No matter if they end up in the hospital they are always there for Sam. Then we have Andi who at first doesn't participate as much in what Sam, Sock, and Ben do. But after being hurt by a demon Sam tells her what is really going on. After accepting that it's not a joke and that Sam really has no other choice, Andi decides to keep the secret and help them.
The main question left to ponder is whether Sam is the son of the devil. The last we see of Sam is him grieving over his father who was buried alive. Then in that final episode we see Mrs. Oliver digging in the place where Sam's father he was buried and looking down. It seems that Mr. Oliver is most likely still alive. If he is a live then this leaves other questions to be answered. It seems that Sam's parents are hiding something else from Sam. What else can they be hiding? Maybe it has something to do with the contract that they had with the devil. Is there something else to that contract that Sam doesn't know about? Or is there something that Sam should know about his own parents? Another question is what is going to happen to Sam and Andi this season? Apart from Sam and Andi we have Sock and Ben who are both important characters in this show. What will happen to Ben and Sock this season? There are a lot of theories going on out there about Sam and the devil. No matter what we know that Sam has a special relationship to the devil because the devil actually likes being around Sam. In the final episode we see a guy that pushes a refrigerator so that it could fall on Sam and when Sam looks up he puts his hands over his head to protect himself. The refrigerator ends up staying still and crashes down to the floor only when Sam moves away from there. That is something that makes people think about Sam and what he can really do. Does Sam have powers? If that's true then he probably is the devil's son.

Post a CommentI have never heard of this show, though it is likely because I don't have cable TV and the CW network doesn't tune in for me so I can't watch anything on that network. Sounds like a fun show, though!
