Reasons to Always Learn

Rita Jan
Oftentimes, we think that once school is over, it's over. No more memorization, no more studying, no more late nights. In fact, we almost hate to learn and are really relieved when school is finished! However, if we are smart, we will continue to learn and study for the rest of our lives.

Self Improvement. It should be taken into account that nothing grows an individual like concentrated learning or self improvement. We, over all, become better people when we are well educated. We have a wider perspective on the world. We are more tolerant toward others. We are capable of identifying and fixing problems which arise. And we feel better about ourselves when we improve ourselves. It is almost like we increase our worth by learning more.

Greater Emotional Health. Emotional maturity, or lack of it, actually, is the number one cause for relationship failure. If one or both people in a relationship lack proper emotional maturity, then all of the effort put into building the relationship is wasted in petty emotional issues and neurosis which is entirely avoidable. Mental and emotional health is noticeably increased by learning and developing your mind more.

Physical Health. Our bodies and our minds like to be in equal balance, and we feel much better when they are! If you increase your mental strength, your body will almost crave being exercised or worked out. I am not talking about a guilt trip or laziness or anything similar to that. Your body will naturally reach for the sun and fresh air and muscle movement. You will start to crave better physical condition because that is the most natural state for you to be in, and once your mental and emotional health has increased, it frees up your body to move in more natural ways.

Many times, we dread the idea of having to constantly learn more. Learn something you love! If you have always wanted to learn how to play the piano, this is your chance! If you have wondered how chess is played, now is the time. Do not be stifled by the thought of opening large textbooks and only using those. Some people enjoy that! Do whatever feels the best to you. And remember, the more you grow, the happier you'll be!
