Reasons I Am Happy to Be a Writer in a McCarthyist Bush-Jr. Summer 2007

What the Writing Community of the U. S. Has to Offer It's Readers in Times of Control and Political & Social Products to Increase Alienation

Michael Wais Jr.
The writing community finally is more able to stand for the common man.

Many years ago, way before television, radio, and even easily affordable novelty porno cartoon strips called "tijuana bibles" there was an innovation called the Gutenberg Printing Press. Finally the creating, publishing, and distributing of written works was no longer merely in the hands of a ruling aristocracy but in the hands of the people. It started out by the printing of Bibles in order to mass produce them to be available to peasants (in that age, whoever wasn't "aristocracy"). Ironically, that may have been the most subversive act to sow the seeds for the future of paper media and all other media. Soon after the innovation of the Gutenberg Printing Press more of the public could have more opportunities to publish and distribute.

Later, with the Beat Generation Xerox took the place of Gutenberg. Previously unpublished or unpublishable works could finally get readership after being printed and published by the authors themselves or by friends of theirs putting their submissions in "zines" which would be independent basement-made magazines as oppossed to the more official "magazine" term which would apply more to glossy magazine publications which would be made under a corporation or corporate umbrella and more likely to represent only what a majority would want to hear or news taken from one or two wire sources instead of more diverse minority voices.

Now, in the present day the Internet has about the greatest potential for openning up more diverse opinions and viewpoints. Things that were once secret abuses of power can have even greater potential to be made public. Important relevant information can be distributed with ease and get the readership that asks for their own minority of paper media that they cannot find (examples of "paper media": books, magazines, "zines", newspapers, etc.). The Internet also creates easier access through putting together hyperlinks from common interests of specific relevant and important information to the community published by diverse minority voices (and when I speak of "minority" I'm not only talking about race, gender, sexual persuasion). Not to mention free library and some free college Internet and Computer Centers and free Wi-Fi Access in Metropolitan Areas.

But the best part is that in the long run, the mainstream corporate media has to find a way to get back it's viewers.

The point is that there is no innate conspiracy to the media corporations themselves: the broadcasters, radio conglomerates, etc. The point is they care about only a couple of things: Ratings and Money. Now that when media conglomerates try to find subtle or obvious ways to disrupt independent writers, publishers, journalists, bloggers, and so on there is already another one in place or will be another independent journalist in place their actions are futile. It's like piracy: It can't be stopped. The force is too decentralized and too large and there are already too many people on the bandwagon and too many people really digging their cause.

So what is the media left with? Reporting with more relevant and significant information to the community once they see why their ratings are dropping or why they're not making as much money. Of course they're left with imitating what sells. I don't honestly believe that a few bloggers got together at a square table and whisperred "Hey wouldn't this be cool!" I believe this has been one of those miraculous happy accidents that has come up. And it's fantastic! Now the underdog and the community can have the power and the knowledge they need to be powerful themselves regardless of who they are or what they do! The scales have become more balanced!

All that needs to be done now is something I'm working on: Peer2Peer. You get these files on .PDF and you duplicate the files with the exact same titling to .txt or some other type of more universal and obsolete format so even those with Apple II computers from the 80s or 70s can read them if possible. Universality is more important not new technology- The older and more universal the better... Now you want to give each pairing a fake porno name such as "Penthouse Issue #69: Jenna Jameson, Bettie Page, All Black Gangbang" et cetera- And since sex sells more people will eat it up... Even people who may have a chance to turn around for the cause of the common man and the community will take a look at the texts and decide for themselves if they would take an interest in them. That would be great if it could be seen if people would take a chance on a cause for self-sustaining, peaceful, and beneficial communities, instead of merely assuming that everyone would not be interested or get bored by the notion. Yes, some people don't care. Yes, some people would rather just do a bunch of coke and buy a bunch of overpriced junk and have people who otherwise wouldn't care notice them. And that's their choice. This way they can have their cake and eat it too as well as the people who may stumble on this information- The people who really dig it- And the people who really dig it can distribute it even further to support the future.

Remember to put the stuff on discs and put them in secret places as well as use secret "dummy" discs hidden in other "dummy" secret locations for putting this information out there.

And most importantly keep doing the same stuff, don't change a thing on the blogging and independent journaling front, don't quit it, and lead the way for others who are trustworthy that admire what you do.

Did You Know Because Of There Being One Opinion Through Wire Services & Media About What Happenned During Hurricane Katrina, Independent Media Was One Of The Only Sources To Clear The Air On What Really Happenned From Those Who Were There?

Isn't it interesting that with the collapse of your beloved Atheist Soviet Union American and Soviet security files were declassified and proved that everyone Senator McCarthy said was a security risk was in fact a security risk. The Senator was a great American hero. Why do Libtards with no education like you continue your litany of hatred against him. Why do you pontificate about history, a subject you have never studied?
