Experience:
If I'm not mistaken the Boston Red Sox have won the World Series twice in the last four years. David Ortiz, Jason Varitek, and Tim Wakfield are key pieces to this team and have been through two championships with the Sox already. The experience many of the young pitchers got through last years World Series Title is impossible to match. Expect experience to be a large factor in this series and in key situations in close games. Pedroia, and Jacoby Ellsbury both had fantastic postseason performances last year and should have similar results this year.
Tougher Division:
The Angels seemingly had the AL West wrapped up half way through the season while the Boston Red Sox had to battle tough teams on a regular basis. The Red Sox are a much better team for facing the Rays, Yankees, and a streaking Blue Jays team through the second half of the season. The Angels haven't played a meaningful game in months while the Red Sox had to make the playoffs by winning the Wild Card.
Fans & Games 3 & 4:
There is no experience like a game at Fenway Park in October. The Angels have not played well at Fenway in the postseason and the Red Sox have been near unstoppable at Fenway in the playoffs. The atmosphere will be electric, and the Red Sox can't be stopped in Boston.
Analyst Predictions:
The analysts are picking the Angels, so that proves the Red Sox will win. Remeber the 2006 playoffs? The analysts all picked the Yankees over Detroit and Minnesota over the Oakland A's. The A's and Tigers moved on and the analysts picked the A's. The Tigers won the series and then were the favorites over the Cardinals in the World Series. Analysts from almost any network can't pick MLB playoff series to save their lives, it seems they are paid to pick the losing teams to win. There has to be a jinx when ESPN and Yahoo Sports analysts pick a team to win a playoff series.
Angels vs. the Red Sox History:
The Red Sox have absolutely dominanted the Angels in postseason play. Yes these are two different teams, but history speaks for itself. From MLB.com "The past three times the Red Sox have gone to the World Series -- 1986, 2004 and '07 -- they've opened their postseason run against the Angels. " The Angels need to stop their historically bad performances against the Red Sox to have a chance in this series.
Result: Red Sox win in 4. Win game one, lose game two, win 2 straight at Fenway.
