No standing in lines.
The number one reason that people do not enjoy shopping during the Christmas season is because of the crowds of shoppers that make things more like a battleground than a mall. I've been into a Gap before and there were a mass of older women rummaging through the sales rack like it was food and they were in a third world country. It's almost as if you need to know Karate in order to get what you want. Most of the items have been picked through, and once you're ready to check out you must get in the two mile line. By the time you've checked out, you're ready to go home and cry out your frustration for the rest of the day. Shopping on the Internet allows you to sit in the comfort of your own home, reclined in a plush leather chair, while you're index finger does all of the work.
You won't get lost in the parking lot.
Don't act like you've never gotten lost in the parking lot of your local mall during Christmas season. I've even had to go to the extent of drawing a map of the parking lot and marking my car before I went in to the mall. Save yourself the task of leaving a trail of bread crumbs to your car and be smart instead: Shop on the Internet. The time spent by walking from your car to the mall and fighting the traffic on your way out of the parking lot could be used to browse websites for gifts.
The Internet doesn't close at 10 o'clock.
If you're like me then you do some of your most productive work at night. However, if you're shopping for Christmas gifts then you must be out the revolving doors by 10:00 or you're locked in for the night. The average worker gets off of work at 5:30. After dinner and the drive over to the mall, you're left with a couple of hours to get your shopping done, most of which is spent fighting with the crowds, standing in line, or making your trek through the parking lot. The Internet shops are open all the time. If it's one o'clock in the morning and you want to buy your cousin a New England Patriots jersey then simply go to any sports website, research the team and click "buy." It's that simple. The jersey then comes in the mail a week later, and you've saved yourself plenty of time.
More control. Larger selection.
To me, this is the biggest reason to use the Internet to do your shopping. Since the majority of Christmas shoppers wait until the last second to get the shopping done, your budget becomes out of order and falls victim to overspending. When you're in the mall, you're so ready to check a name off the list that you end up spending more than you originally intended just to have the satisfaction of marking the name off the list. By Internet shopping, you're able to competitively shop different sites to see who offers the better deal. You can then immediately dismiss a gift based on price and continue to search. By fulfilling your allocated budget, you will save on stress and money! Not only this, but you're able to find a bigger selection. Sites like E-bay will offer you gifts that you can't find in any retail stores. If you know of someone that wants something that's hard to find, it's more than likely on the Internet.
You can get more done at home.
Convenience is the number one reason to shop on the Internet. Internet shopping saves time, allowing you to get more done such as planning for Christmas parties or bake cookies. Christmas shopping doesn't have to be so time consuming. If you have the tools or technology to make your life easier and less stressful, then use it. There's so much more going around the holidays other than shopping, so use the time you've saved by Internet shopping by just enjoying Christmas. After all, that's what it's about.
