Just like David Letterman, I can give you a "Top 10 List" of better things to do with your money than blow it on all on a wedding day:
1. Spend the money on a down payment for a house. You'll cut the price of the mortgage down and you'll have put your money into something productive.
2. Purchase a new car and get rid of that jalopy you've been driving around in since college or high school.
3. Start preparing for children. Children cost a lot of money and you are going to need it when the time comes. Start sticking money in the bank for the child's arrival. It will come quicker than you think.
4. Purchase stock as an investment.
5. Invest in your own business. Some people spend $20,000 to $100,000 or more on their wedding day. Think of all that money that you can invest in your own small business that will net you so much more money.
6. Donate it to charity. That money will go a lot further than just one day and will help so many more people than just you and your hubby.
7. Purchase items for the house. You need things to live everyday like pots and pans, furniture, and more. So why put all that money into a wedding day and then live in an empty house without necessities when you can fill the house up with useful things?
8. Go on a really nice honeymoon. I've seen a lot of people that spend so much money on their wedding day they either can't go on a honeymoon, or they just go somewhere for the weekend. Then there are always the people that can't afford to go and wrack up debt on their credit card. Save the money on the wedding and put it toward the honeymoon.
9. Pay off that college debt. There are so many people that carry around college debt for a life time. Pay off some of that debt with money you would have spent on a wedding instead of letting your debt linger until your child goes to college!
10. Give money to appreciative family members that really need it. Maybe your dad has been laid off and is having a tough time with the bills or maybe your niece could use some extra cash to make it through her college days. Through the money their way instead of wasting it on a one day event like a wedding.
