What does protect us from getting sick is our handy dandy little (or actually big) immune system. Keeping our immune systems healthy is the best defense against any illness or disease. One way to strengthen your immune system is to start eating better. A better diet includes following the food pyramid. Eat less red meats and less fried foods. Avoid too much sugar. Eat more raw foods and fresh foods instead of canned and processed foods. And, try to get fish in your diet once or twice a week- Omega-3 Fatty Acids will help boost your immune system.
Try herbs and vitamins to help keep you healthy. Both echinacea and vitamin C can help your body to build up it's immunity. Also, you can take a regular antioxidant, or get foods like blueberries and pomegranates that are naturally rich in these free radical fighting nutrients. Free radicals are the things that get into our system and cause havoc on our bodies giving us illnesses and even cancer.
If you have recently had a baby or are planning to it is important to know that breast feeding can help to build up the babies immune system from the very beginning of their lives. They will be less likely to get illnesses and will live healthier, happier lives. Breast milk transfers the mother's good immune properties to the child thus boosting the babies immunity to disease and illness.
Some reasons to avoid vaccines are their possible side effects. These can include autism, hearing problems, respiratory diseases (like asthma), seizures, cancers and even autoimmune disorders.
Please note, this is an article that contains things that are not necessarily the views of the author. It is based on current popular opinion. It is always important to discuss such factors with your family physician before making any decision whether or not to get you or your children vaccinated. Your doctor will be happy to go over the risks and side effects with you.
