Fat people have fat people habits. You can't help but be influenced because you eat, play, live, work, and travel together. If you don't believe that, consider this scenario and ask yourself if it sounds familiar:
You've packed a reasonably healthy meal for lunch. Your co-worker/lunch buddy peeks her head into your office and asks if you want in on the take-out order. You know you'd be content with the lunch you packed; however, you always eat together. It would really suck to sit across from her and smell yummy Kung Pao chicken while you eat last night's baked chicken. So, you put your order in and later eat a whole day's worth of calories in one meal. So much for your healthy lunch plans.
Solution: Tell everyone around you what your goals are so they can help you limit temptation. After all, there's already enough of that going around, right?
2. You're impatient.
You want microwave skinny in a Crock Pot world. Successful, safe weight management takes time and consistency.
Solution:
Follow this recipe for a hot, juicy bod.
Mix:
-Small portions of your favorite junk food every now & then
-All the fresh fruits and veggies you want
-Plenty of low-cal fluids
- Moderate to vigorous physical activity on most days of the week
-Lots of fiber
Let simmer consistently from now on and voila! You now have one hot, delicious bod. It's not easy, but it really is that simple.
3. You're insane.
Okay, before you go getting all upset. Let me give you Albert Einstein's definition of insanity: doing something over and over again but expecting different results. If you want to be different, you are going to have to do something different. Until you're ready to do something different, you will be the same fat person you don't want to be.
Solution: Enough with the gimmicks that don't work and leave you worse off than before you tried them. Lifestyle changes work so adopt them.
4. You're a loner.
Health behaviors are the hardest to change, yet you try to go it alone. You need a team of people to help you map out a safe plan that you can stick with for life.
Solution: Consider hiring one or all of the following: a personal trainer, registered dietician, personal shopper, counselor (for emotional eaters), and consult your physician. Even if you don't have much money, you can always pay for one or two short consultations with a professional. Many of them will be more than happy to give you some guidelines specific to you, which is what you want. One size does not fit all when it comes to a weight management plan. Remember to make sure they're licensed and experienced.
So what's holding you back? Time is precious and it's the one thing you can't get back once you've spent it. So, how much more are you going to waste? This time next year will you be able to look yourself in the mirror and know you've been taking the small, consistent steps necessary for lifelong fitness? Indecision is a decision. It comes with a very hefty (no pun intended) price tag.
