Reasons People Stop Going to Church

Trying to get your mom saved, she just won't go to church? Or are you wondering about your own salvation, but for some reason, you just can't seem to stay at any church for longer than a few months? You may be experiencing one of the three reasons people stop going to church, and once you recognize these reasons, maybe you'll find it easier to overcome them. Read on to discover the three most common reasons why people don't go to church.

A lot of people either don't know or haven't gotten a revelation of the Hebrews scripture that says do not forsake the assembly of my people.

That's God command to us that we have to assemble. That means going somewhere where we can get together in the presence of God. Each time the church doors are open, we should feel led to come in. Staying home because you're tired is forsaking the assembly. So we have to realize that going to church is not a choice. When we don't go to church, we are disobeying the word. Now, working is one thing, but saying you just don't feel like going is a completely different thing.

Many people think church should only be a loving warm and friendly environment so once they get fed up with something or somebody; they're out the door.

Believe it or not, even the color of the church carpet is too much for some people to take. And for those types of people, an argument with a church member, a minister, or a deacon might make them feel like never wanting to come to church again. But even though the Bible teaches kindness and joy, you have to remember how Jesus came sometimes when he wanted things cleaned up. He wasn't always delicate.

Furthermore, if you read the book of Revelations, you may not get the coziest of feelings. And when Paul came into the different churches in the New Testament, he gave commands almost like a drill sergeant.

So you have to remember that even though it's nice to be sweet, eventually, things have to get done. And many times, people just don't respond quickly enough to "sweet." But as church members, we have to forgive seventy times seven times in a day. That way, we keep no record of wrongs and focus on God rather than people. So if someone is a bit harsh to you in church, forgive that person again and again.

Many people don't realize that people are just people when it comes to church.

Minster so and so is a person just like you. So is the pastor. That means, these people can make mistakes. So if you hear about something fishy going on, don't hold a certain person up as above anything. That will make you leave a church when something happens because you'll say, if this person can't live holy, what can they teach me or how can I live holy? But you have to remember that we are all being developed.

That means that a minister in your church who got their lights turned off yesterday can teach you about paying your tithes. If you don't judge others, you will be able to get this concept easily.

But be encouraged, a church is waiting for you. And when you walk into the doors, don't be so quick to walk out. Bathe yourself in forgiveness and a strong tendency to turn away from judging others, and you'll do just fine.

Eric makes an excellent point. I stopped going to church for none of the reasons above. I stopped going because the Truth is being manipulated, the Bible is being misinterpreted and all they care about is whether people are putting money in the church or not. Church can be at home with one other person and this is how I've been having my Sunday services. Two or more is enough. Also, I've noticed that since I've left that I've grown closer to God, the relationship is more genuine. I no longer feel imprisoned and I find that I'm less judgmental of others, more giving of the needy and overall happier. Church is nothing but religion and rituals. I'd choose relationship over religion any day.

its not whether one goes to church that's an issue. going to church doesn't mean you've grown closer to GOD. In fact, the scripture says where two or three are gathered in MY NAME, I AM there in the midst of them. so let's focus on BEING the church and living as CHRIST commanded loving GOD and loving others.
