For those who don't know, Cheaters is a weekly syndicated reality TV show that involves private investigators setting up cameras around the house and work of someone that is suspected of cheating in hopes of catching them in the act and confirming the suspicions. The show starts with the investigator, a man by the name of Joey Greco, discussing the situation with the mate that questions their partner's fidelity. The show then transitions into the video footage of the investigation, including footage from the spy cameras at work and home. Eventually, most of the cases confirm evidence of their mate cheating, ranging from kissing in the car to silhouettes dancing in the window that are obviously engaged in sexual activity. The complainant is then escorted by Greco, as well as a few muscular bodyguards, to the cheaters location for a very dramatic confrontation. Often times, the cheater is with the person they are cheating with, and the result is a verbal or physical violence. In fact, host Joey Greco was once stabbed on a show, but fortunately he made a full recovery and is back better than ever. It's a good chance for viewers to see the fallout that results in a cheating situation and how demoralizing the act can be. At the very end of the show they allow the cheater and the complainant to give their take on the situation.
Cheaters could be the most important show on the television because it actually embraces the faithful and exposes the false-hearted in hopes that they'll change their ways. This is a real show with real lives and certainly real emotions. As I mentioned earlier, many shows on television today glorify cheating and often times doesn't show the consequences from the act. If it does, it's in a fictional story with lots of fake tears and Michael Bolton songs. These people have their entire relationship on the line and the cameras are there every step of the way to document it. Often times, the investigation includes married couples, some of which that have children together. Cheaters is the perfect platform to talk about the subject and inform viewers that cheating won't go unnoticed.
One of the great parts about the show is the actual confrontation between the complainant and the cheating partner. Any viewer that has been contemplating an affair or an outside relationship would fear this kind of embarrassment and confrontation. The producers of the show do a great job of portraying the cheater as the scum of the earth. For instance, they'll play phone or audio conversations between the married couple and the cheater says that they're going shopping and will be back in a matter of hours. The cameras then follow the cheater from the current location to their destination, and it's certainly not the mall. The next few shots show the cheater kissing another in the driveway and they make their way to the door. You can't help but look at how terrible that situation is and promise that you'll never do that to your loved one. It's very inspirational and has often made me appreciate my wife and our relationship that much more.
Also, Cheaters has a human element to it. You can see the heartbreak on the faces of the complainants as they discover the evidence. You feel sorry for them. Someone that is contemplating an affair doesn't only fear physical confrontation, but they fear they'll break the heart of their partner. Unlike a Soap Opera or tribal counsel where someone is voted off, this story is real. After the cameras are turned off, lives are still changing and altered due to these series of events. For example, a mother of three children finds out that her husband has been seeing one of her best friends. These types of stories are going on everywhere, not just in North Texas where the television show is filmed.
The point here is that Cheaters exposes the unfaithful and forces the consequences of the act. No matter where you are, you're never safe if you choose to cheat on your partner. Watch the show. You'll thank me later.
