Reasons Why Helium Articles Are Ranked Low

David DeWitt
Writers enjoy many benefits from the helium website. One of the benefits is that peer rating system. Each title within a specific title group is rated by fellow helium members and given a ranking according to the rates received. The goal of helium writers is to see their articles ranks among the top of the title. However, there are times when a articles are ranked among the lower section of the title group. Why does this happen?

There are a number of reasons why articles are ranked lower in a specific title group.

* Poor writing quality

* Failure to understand the title

* Bad grammar

* Improper format

* Failure to follow Helium guidelines

Poor writing quality

At times helium writers submit content without carefully considering the article quality. Writing to create as much content as possible or just the desire to post can cause writers to submit content prematurely. Writing that is rushed or poor proofreading can lead to a lower quality of writing. Developing good writing habits and proper proofreading skills can help writing quality dramatically.

Failure to understand the title

Sometimes articles are ranked lower because they do not fit the title. Before writing articles be sure the title is properly understood. Articles that are off-topic will always be ranked lower. Remember to stay on topic throughout the article and to develop a clear communication style. Failure to understand the title may also result in the article being flagged during the rating system.

Bad grammar

Bad grammar is another reason for low ratings. When writing for Helium keep articles in a professional manner. Remember Helium is not a blog. It is a site for Internet articles and these articles should be written in a professional manner. Writing is filled with poor grammar will always lead to lower rankings.

Improper format

Internet writing has a radically different format than print writing. This is sometimes forgotten by Helium writers and articles sometimes are ranked lower because of format. Helium writing format requires shorter paragraphs and condensed writing style.

Failure to follow Helium guidelines

Helium has specific guidelines for articles published. Each article and every writer are held to the same guidelines. Not following the guidelines can result in the article being removed but will often cause lower ratings and overall lower rank. Check the Helium guidelines before posting articles.

Following a few simple guidelines to help insure Helium articles stay off the bottom. Avoiding these common mistakes can help Helium writers to rise above the bottom. Take time to look over previous articles and make edits where necessary. When specifically concerned about on articles rating consider the possibility of leapfrog. A leapfrog is the tool used by Helium members to edit and revise previous articles. The leapfrog will allow a previous article to be replaced by a new or edited version. Be sure to use the leapfrog option carefully and give consideration to the need of a leapfrog.
