Normally, cable TV distributors operate by actually selling a bunch of channels to the consumers even if they opt not to have such channels. Given this, the people are left with no other choice but to really subscribe to all. If the cable TV distributors won't do this, unfamiliar channels will be forced to increase their fees to cover up for their loss. Such practice done by both the channels and cable TV distributors had been very unfair, but they have to continually do such for business sake. However, more often cable companies are the ones suffering such consequences imposed upon by these channels. All these made the consumers more and more dissatisfied with the cable TV companies' services. This is not what Apple TV offers.
The Apple TV has not even started its operation, yet several huge channels such as Time Warner and CBS consider the offers of Apple TV for the benefits of the people, expecting about $30 a month service fee on Ethernet ports by 2010. Other channels may not go with this at first, but like the iTunes, in which limited release was made in the beginning, millions of followers came flocking to avail its offers. Given this, cable TV would soon be out of the race due to its absolute dissatisfaction given to its clients. This will then pave the way for the Apple TV to even rise higher. Now, the people are freer in choosing the channels they want, rather than being confined to channels that do not interest them.
Aside from the Apple TV, Sony's PlayStation 3 consoles already had TV streaming along with Internet- ready Blu- Ray Players. All these and more will make the old cable TV be out favor. Apple TV and other TV streaming companies will make their way to the top, and say goodbye to the old cable TV/Truly, the Apple TV caters to the changing needs of the clients and is abreast with the changes of these modern times.
Apple TV is poised to be a major player in the content delivery to our television sets. They offer on demand services as opposed to the dozens of channels that are forced on consumers they have no interest in. It will be interested how traditional cable tv providers will react to this new kind of new technology.
