Reasons Why People Post Myspace Bulletins

So here is my question to all of you here at Associated Content: What is the deal with posting MySpace bulletins?
Reasons why people post bulletins on MySpace.com.

Here on this article I'm going to make an attempt to answer a few possible reasons why people post bulletins on MySpace. Some reasons might be good reasons (in my opinion), while other reasons make me want to tell those bulletin posters to find something better to do with their time.

Reason 1 - Bands wanting promotion and fans.

That is great reason why someone might want to use MySpace bulletins. There are tons of great bands and artists out there looking for different ways to reach new fans, sell their music, get people informed about when their performances are, etc. Of course, bands shouldn't overdo it though. One or two bulletin posts with a decent time interval from one another will probably be viewed by most of the people in a band's friend list. Now, posting a bulletin every 5 minutes about your next show will probably just get them annoyed. So my advice here, people will go to your show if they want to see you, not by how many bulletins you have posted.

Reason 2 - People wanting to make an announcement.

Sometimes I will see people from my old high school making posts trying to let people know about what is happening in a specific school club, sports teams, or even prom announcements. If you have something to say to a good number of people, myspace bulletins are a good way to go about it. Now a days MySpace is so popular among high school students, so there you go.

This is not limited to high school students though. This also goes for people that work together, families, church groups, and friends in general. MySpace bulletins are a great way to tell people about your announcements. It's great, but again, don't overdo it... It's silly.

Reason 3 - Companies announcing contests and giveaways.

I personally don't get many of those, but I know people who do. Sometimes a company may be doing a contest of some sort, or just giving away some goodies. Chances are, by posting a few bulletins here and there, you might be able to get some people to sign up for your contests and giveaways. This also goes for people that are trying to promote their websites, and trying to get subscribers. Most people who are on MySpace at any given moment, are probably just surfing through the net. So give them something interesting to sign up for, you might just be surprised at how many people may respond.

Reason 4 - People just need attention!

Ok, so here is the reason why I decided to write this article in the first place. Some people need attention, and one way to get attention is by posting a MySpace bulletin. I personally don't mind the occasional "good nights", or "can I get some feedback on something I just posted on my page?" But... some people just don't get it!

Every time I log into my MySpace account, there are those few bulletins from the same people, with the same kinds of topics as the last time I logged in. For example, who hasn't gotten a bulletin like this? "New pics, go comment", or those with some random (sometimes interesting titles), but when you click to open it, all you have to read is a meaningless sentence or two. I'm not saying every bulletin post should have some kind of deep meaning, but the people posting these are usually the ones who keep posting nonsense every five minutes or so. We get it, you have nothing else to do. Not to mention those silly chain letters and quizzes. I guess there are people out there that actually spend their time reading who the last person Johnny spoke on the phone with was.

Now really, look around you, I'm sure you can find something else more interesting than posting random bulleting posts on MySpace. Thank Tom, now there is a specific place for people to post their "statuses" and "moods".

Reason 5 - Spam

Well, there are those who don't only "not get it!" but like to spread viruses around the internet, or just mess up people's MySpace accounts. To those people I really have nothing to say.

MySpace should be a website where people go to connect with friends, exchange comments, and maybe learn a thing or two. Not a place where people are afraid to click on a link because it might be harmful to their computers or myspace accounts.

So, what do YOU use MySpace bulletins for?
