Reassessing the Importance Placed on Sports in America

I don't watch much sports anymore. I am too busy working, searching for stuff on the internet or doing some chores. In the hour that it would take to watch a sports program I can a couple chapters in a skill building book, clean out the garage, or exercise. I suppose exercise is linked to sport so I will expound on that.

I suppose sports do have their place in society. This is specifically true if the majority of the people participate in them instead of simply watching them. Building teamwork and increasing physical activity is something to be valued.

Professional sports is show business. It is not always the best teams or players who make the most money and get the most spotlight; it is those who can tell a story and who can tap into something within the spectator. Amateur sports on the other hand are more about the love of the sport. College athletics, and weekend warriors are a more genuine side of the sports world.
