Recall of Major Pet Food Brands!

Pet owners are frantic as a new "wet" pet food recall is now in effect for the Untied States, Canada, and Mexico. Menu Foods, an Ontario based company announced Saturday that it is recalling pet food sold to dog owners under 48 different brands and to cat owners under 40 different brands. This includes name brands such as Iams, Nutro, and Eukanuba. The brands have been distributed throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada, and have been sold at almost every major retail store in the market, including Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Safeway.

The tainted food has been linked to an uncounted number of cases of kidney failure in pets, and has been the confirmed cause of at least 10 animals have died after eating this food. The recall is for "wet" pet food, like the kind sold in the cans, but does not affect the dry food in any way.

This recall covers the companies "cut's and gravy" style food that consists of chunks of meat covered in a gravy like sauce. This product was sold in cans and small foil pouches and any purchased between December 2006 and March 2007 are under recall order. Menu Foods is the number one of the largest manufactures of pet food in North America, making pet food for 17 out of the 20 major retailers of pet food. It is also a contract manufacturer for top branded pet food companies including Proctor and Gamble Inc.
