Reason for Munchkin Recall
The battery-operated subs suck in water and use a pump to propel them in the bathtub. The intake valve can also create suction on loose skin, posing a laceration risk. Consumers have already reported 19 instances of injury to boys' genital areas, including one injury that required medical attention.
An online search reveals problems dating back to May 2010. Two members of the Baby Center Community reported the sub caused cuts on their sons' penises.
How to Report an Injury
Report injuries or incidents to the Consumer Product Safety Commission by visiting this website and filing a report.
What to Do With Recalled Bath Submarines
Immediately take the toy sub away from children. Contact Munchkin via phone, (877) 242-3134, or online for instructions on how to return the sub and receive a free replacement toy.
It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product, but some toys slip through the cracks. Be on the look out for this hazardous toy when shopping at garage sales or swapping used toys. Early bird shoppers should also double check to make sure this toy is not in their gift closets.
Visit the Munchkin website for the latest information and to view a photo of the toy.

Post a CommentGood Job. Thanks S.
We need to go back to old fashioned, low tech toys. Better for the imagination, too.
Thanks for the information.
Important recall information. Aren't these toys tested before being marketed anymore?
