This recall involves almost 96,000 Cadillac CTs cars for the model years 2005 to 2007 (Over 46,000 for 2006 models and over 33,000 for the year 2007) because a mat that senses car passengers in the front seat could break and disable the front air bag. What happens is that there is a passenger sensing system mat that flexes. This flexing could cause the mat to bend or fold. This could then break the connections in the mat. This then could result in the sensor not detecting that there is a person in the front passenger seat and the air bag will inflate! Needless to say the mats must be replaced.
So far so good - no one has been hurt by this "illness."
General Motors very recently recalled about 111,000 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX 2011 small SUV models because the anchor to the seatbelt buckle might fail.
Last months, November, 2010, the company recalled close to 200,000 compact pickup trucks due to missing child seat anchors.
United States safety regulators are investigating reports of power steering loss and crashes in 2004-2007 on Saturn Ions sedans. This brand is not being made any more.
In addition, GM said it was recalling more than 1,200 Cadillac Escalade EXT, the Chevy Avalanche and Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles for the 2011 model year. In these vehicles, the rear axle cross pin might fracture or shift out of position. This might cause the rear axle to lock and the driver might lose control of the car.
In Honda news the company is recalling close to 11,000 Accord V-C cars for 1010 and 2011 models and 2011 Pilot vehicles. The damper brackets in 2011 Pilots may not have been tightened during assembly because of a programming error. Loose bolts can increase the risk of steering loss and cause excess noise. Also on the 2011 Pilot and some Accord V-6 cars the spindle nuts might be loose causing the loss of being able to steer if the front suspension collapses.
Sorry if this makes you anxious (I am anxious just writing it) but it is information you have to have!
