Health Canada has determined that the recalled polo pyjama and lounge pants do not meet the design and flammability requirements for children's sleepwear under Canadian law.
Loose-fitting children's sleepwear can contact ignition sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more readily than tight-fitting sleepwear. When loose-fitting sleepwear is made with natural fibres such as cotton, they can burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to large areas of the child's body.
Neither Health Canada nor Outerstuff ULC has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of the sleepwear.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled sleepwear away from children and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
For more information, consumers may contact Outerstuff ULC at 1-800-877-2161 (extension 3287) or by email at productsafety@outerstuff.com.
The recalled flannel lounge pants were sold from June 2006 to September 2009 and the recalled polo pyjamas were sold from September 2009 to December 2010.
