Recap of 'Alphas' Pilot on Syfy

In the pilot of "Alphas," the show starts with a grocery clerk, Cameron Hicks, minding his own business at work. He gets an unexpected phone call telling him to go to an exact place at a certain time. When the little old woman asks where the ice cream is, Vince tells her. Then grandma tells Vince to kill him.

Stunned at the little old lady's comment, Hicks shook it off. Not long after that, Vincent walks away from his job finding himself more confused than he was with the little old lady in the supermarket. Everyone and everything was telling him to kill the guy.

Ending up at his destination from the text message, Cameron finds a rifle on top of the building. After locking and loading the rifle, he takes aim at a building and fires. The man he kills from several blocks away dies from a gunshot wound to the head during a police interrogation.

This is where the "Alphas" come into the picture. Don, from the DOD, shows up at Dr. Lee Rosen's house with a file on the sniper shooting and death of the suspect in police custody. With each character being introduced with their special skills, they wind up at the office located near a bowling alley with a bakery on the corner.

During the Alpha team investigation, they use their unique skills to solve the case. However, they find themselves in danger due to the nature of the investigation.

Rosen learns there is a Red Flag group of Alphas that have what they call "ghost files" at the Department of Defense. The Red Flag group uses "ghosts" who have mind control options they use to manipulate ordinary, everyday people into doing their dirty work, killings, for them.

During the investigation, at least a dozen non suspecting people are used to help set a trap to draw out Rosen's group of Alphas. While figuring out that Cameron didn't act on his own free will to kill the suspect in custody, they learn there is a ghost who used him to manipulate his way into finding the group.

When the ghost turns Bill against Rosen after a bell hop leaps to his death, Rosen manages to bring Bill back into the group with an antidote that turns off the Red Flag's mind control.

Cameron uses his sniper knowledge to ricochet a bullet off a sign to save Rose from the ghost. The second ricochot shot he uses hits the ghost in the back and kills him. However, before he dies he tells Hicks that he's on the wrong side. Ignoring the message, Hicks ends up as the fifth member of the Alphas because Rosen tells him they have his back while others may not since he wasn't arrested for the kill shot of the suspect that was in federal custody.
