Recap - Big Brother 9 - Episode 8

Tonight's Live Eviction Show of Big Brother 9 was suspenseful and it ended with a knock out HOH Competiton.

Julie starts off saying "Operation Condor seemed to be a done deal with Alex and Amanda on the way out, but as we've seen on Big Brother, the pendulum swings both ways."

We are shown the end of the Veto Meeting and Josh in the Diary Room said "They have to be broken up."

We are then shown the morning after the emergencies when Amanda came into the kitchen after seeing the doctor in the Diary Room. She said the doctor told her to make sure she eats five times today. Her blood sugar is still low and she has to watch what she eats to get it higher.

We see Adam and Matt sitting out in the rain on the patio talking about going to the final two together. Adam said "I got ya. I got ya" and they hug.

While Matt is helping Natalie bench press, Allison watches and says to herself that Matt and Natalie are strong and this is the perfect opportunity to get them out. She got up and went inside to the HOH room to talk to everyone about it.

In the HOH room, Allison made her case about Alex and Amanda being on slop this whole week and being weak and thus, less competitive during the upcoming HOH. She suggested they take this opportunity to get Matt and Natalie out. James is shown in the Diary Room saying that he is not against taking Matt and Natalie out and calling it "Operation Bro Down." While everyone was still together in the HOH room, Adam defended Matt, not wanting everyone to decide to evict him.

Matt took Natalie into the storage room to talk to her about the fact that they already have Adam and Shelia's vote, but Natalie needs to work on Josh and Sharon because she is friends with them. Natalie went to Sharon to campaign, and Josh came into the room. Natalie filled Josh in on everything she was saying. Josh told her "Don't stress about it."

Ryan and Allison talk about what they need to do while laying together in the hammock. Allison said "Can we beat Matt and Natalie?"

CBS shows clips from each couple talking about their upcoming vote and they begin with Adam and Shelia. Shelia said she "Really, really enjoys Alex's company." Adam said "Matt is our closest Ally."

Julie talks to the Houseguests as they sit together on the living room couch. She begins by talking about the emergencies and says "We are glad you are both okay." She asks Amanda how things have been different since her medical emergency. Amanda said things have been different and that she and Alex have gotten closer. Julie said "Sounds like a big group hug."

Julie mentioned the fight between Shelia and Allison and asked Shelia how things have been different between herself and Allison. Shelia said "Now I've learned that in this game, you have to keep some things to yourself." Julie asks how Shelia felt during Allison's health crisis. Shelia said she did not think Allison was coming back.

Julie mentioned how James took care of Amanda during the emergencies. She asked James for a comment and he said "I held her there while she shook in my arms." Julie said "You were staying calm and focused."

Julie asked Alex for a comment about Amanda's health emergency. He said "It was shocking. My first priority was her."

Julie asks Matt how it has been living without the basic conveniences they gave up during the HOH Competition. He said "Life is miserable.. People's personalities changed.. Some people are really moody."

Julie asks Shelia how slop has been for her. Shelia laughed and said "I have been on every diet and this has been the best diet I've been on in my life."

Next, we are shown Joshuah and Sharon in the Diary Room talking about their upcoming votes. Sharon said "Matt and Natalie should go," that they have started to turn against them. Joshuah said that Alex and Amanda should go and that "Amanda secretly hates me."

We are shown clips of James and Chelsia getting to know one another and their families' reaction to their blossoming relationship. James travels the world on his bicycle and Chelsia is from a small town in Iowa. James said he has ridden for over seven thousand miles, handing out pamphlets "Promoting peace and prosperity." Chelsia talks about all the activities and clubs and volunteer work she did while she was in school. Their family and friends say they are very compatible.

Julie talks to James and Chelsia privately from the HOH room. Julie asked James about him going back on his word with Matt and putting him and Natalie on the block. James said "I did not think I would win HOH and I wanted him not to put me up." Julie then asked Chelsia if she had any regrets about their nominations. Chelsia said "No regrets. I'm not going to regret anything."

Julie asked James what it is like to go from being alone, bicycling around the world to being confined to a house with so many people. James' main complaint was that these "People are so materialistic."

Julie asked Chelsia how being from a small town in Iowa she has connected so well with someone so different from her. Chelsia said "I'm a girly girl, but very laid back and open minded."

Next, we are shown Ryan and Allison in the Diary Room, talking about their upcoming vote. Ryan said he wants Alex and Amanda out, "They had it out for us from day one." Allison said "Matt and Natalie have not done anything in our regards either."

Just prior to the live eviction, Julie allows the nominees to speak. Alex and Amanda go first. Amanda said "With each and every one of you, I have definitely had my ups and downs," but that she did not want to go home. Alex said "This is family. I don't want to go home."

Natalie and Matt stood up next and Natalie said "I'm just so thankful and blessed to be put in this house with all of you," and that she was not ready to go back to "The Beaver State." Matt said "I think each and every one of you is beautiful inside and out," and he did not want to go home.

Julie explains the voting rules. Each couple must agree. The first couple not to agree would be the couple to go home. They would be called to the Diary Room in random order.

Adam and Shelia went first and voted to evict Alex and Amanda. Joshuah and Sharon voted to evict Alex and Amanda. Neither Joshuah, nor Sharon were happy with their vote. Ryan and Allison voted to evict Alex and Amanda.

Julie announced "By a vote of three to zero, Alex and Amanda, you have been evicted from the Big Brother house."

Amanda cried and everyone hugged. At the door, Amanda said "Bye you guys. Good luck. Good luck everybody."

After they left, Matt thanked everyone for keeping him and Natalie. Sharon and Natalie broke down in tears. Chelsia did the "Ra -Rawr" of Operation Condor.

Alex and Amanda talked with Julie. Alex said he did not believe campaigning would have made a difference. Julie mentioned that Amanda was campaigning hard. Amanda said she believed everyone would respect Alex for choosing not to campaign against his friend, so she was making up for him.

Julie asked them about the romance between them. She said "Alex, initially, you were very attracted to Amanda. Do you think emotions had a part to play in this game?" Alex said "No," that after everything, the emotions and feelings got handled and "We promised to be true to each other in the game."

They then watched the goodbye messages. Amanda cried. When Matt's goodbye message said he promises to revenge them, Alex thanked him.

The live HOH Competition was about the love quotes throughout the house. It was called "Words of Love." They are given the quote and must name the author of the quote. If they buzz in and get it correct, they get to eliminate another player. If they buzz in and get it wrong, they are eliminated.

They were to play three rounds. The women would play each other until only one was left. Then the men would play each other until only one was left. A final round was to be played by the winner of the women's round and the men's round.

Sharon got the first question correct and eliminated Allison. Sharon got the second question correct and eliminated Shelia. Sharon got the third question correct and eliminated Natalie, thus winning the women's round in a clean sweep.

Ryan got the first question wrong and he was eliminated. Joshuah got the second question correct and eliminated Matt. Joshuah got the third question correct and eliminated Adam, thus winning the men's round.

Because Sharon and Joshuah are a couple, they did not have to play the third and final round. They were the winners of the HOH Competition by a landslide and they screamed and jumped up and down celebrating.

Chelsia and James seemed very pleased and happy to hand over their HOH keys to their closest allies. Adam said "Good job guys."

There was an extra long commercial break and Internet followers find out within moments of the live show what went down during that time. It appears Allison and Joshuah had some sort of confrontation and things escalated throughout the evening and into the night.

When the show comes back, everyone is on the living room couch and Julie congratulates the new HOH couple. Joshuah said "We're syked! We're pumped!" Sharon told Julie that she and Joshuah had spent the last twenty minutes before the live show, studying the quotes in the house and it paid off. Josh said he wants to see photos of his family. Sharon said "I am a picture freak... I can't wait to see my family."

Julie asked Matt if he had any last words for his buddy Alex. Matt said "Alex is a great human being."

Julie turns to the viewing audience and tells us that next Wednesday, the evicted couple will get a surprise that nobody will see coming and a new chapter will begin in the house.

So what happened during that altercation between Allison and Joshuah during the live show? Allison claims Joshuah threatened her life and later that evening she tried to have Joshuah kicked out of the house. Big Brother producers issued a restraining order against Joshuah and he has to stay five feet away from Allison at all times. Then, hours later, Allison goes outside and baits Joshuah into another altercation and she had lied to her partner Ryan about why she was going outside. When Ryan is brought into the altercation, he learns that she lied to him and he gets angry. Ryan and Allison end up fighting into the night.

This morning (the day after these fights), Allison baited Joshuah into another altercation. She kept encroaching upon the five feet he is supposed to stay from her and he kept telling her to back off from his five feet and she insisted it did not apply to her.
