The unfortunate victim in "Bones," Season 7, Episode 5, "The Twist in the Twister" is one of those crazy people who chase after tornadoes in order to study them instead, as sensible people do, run away or hide from them.
Spoilers follow.
The investigation goes through the usual litany of red herring suspects until the perpetrator is found in the last 10 minutes or so. The clues include in what direction a twister spins, which was unusual in the case of the one that almost sent the victim to the land of Oz after he was killed.
The important bits were the subplots that surrounded the forensic procedural.
First, the intern of the week, Fisher, seems to be reacting well to his latest meds. He is not only trusted enough to live outside an institution, but he is now picking up women and succeeding. Good for him.
As Brennan's pregnancy advances to its inevitable conclusion, Booth is starting to get more and more overprotective, much to her annoyance. There some back and forth on this issue, which in one instance gets Booth abandoned at the site of a tornado strike. In the end, Booth agrees to remain overprotective and Brennan agrees to keep complaining about it.
The best sequence was Hodgins, Angela, baby Michael, and daddy, the red bearded lead performer for ZZ Top. Michael is entering a phase in which sleeping is an option for baby and parents, which really impairs his folks when they have to work at catching murderers.
Daddy shows up all willing to help out and to allow his daughter and son-in-law to get some sleep. However they are worried that he will just stimulate the little tyke even more with his rock and roll ways. They should not have worried overmuch.
Michael's granddad figures out that a loud playing of hard driving blues has just the right soothing effect to put the little kid into slumber. It is very clear that he takes after the red bearded one rather than either of his parents. It should be an object lesson that one should not just assume that light classical is sufficient to stop a kid from being a pest to his parents.
