Recap '˜Survivor Nicaragua' Episode 12 - Calling it Quits

As 'Survivor Nicaragua' episode 12 began there were only nine contestants remaining.

Episode 12 began with a recap of everyone who has wanted to quit 'Survivor Nicaragua' including Kelly, NaOnka, and Holly. All of them have staged a comeback and are still among the surviving contestants.

The big question to be answered was whether Sash could maintain control and continue to strategize with out his main sidekick, Brenda, who was voted off on episode 10. (Episode 11, last week, was a recap episode of the entire season, to-date, of 'Survivor Nicaragua').

Everyone in camp has grown leery of Chase, who can't seem to decide where his allegiances lie.

Jane has been a central cog among the alliances of the young people, but her strength and endurance is beginning to frighten those who don't want to go up against her as the game winds down. Plus, her down-home mannerism and humor that was at first charming is beginning to wear on the other contestants nerves.

Meanwhile at the camp - 'Survivor Nicaragua,' episode 12

Chase got back to camp from tribal council and tried to figure out with whom he should form an alliance. With Brenda gone, Sash is the next reasonable choice to vote off of 'Survivor Nicaragua.'

When the contestants awoke their was a nasty storm brewing. The pond that Jane had been fishing in was washed away.

NaOnka was discouraged by the rain and cold. Her joints were locking up in the cold weather.

Kelly was in tears and ready to throw in the towel.

The rain was working against everyone's mental game. Holly tried to encourage everyone, but her words were hardly heard by those who were ready to give up. Benry and Fabio were heartless toward those who felt they needed to leave.

Chase was more sympathetic, which worked in his favor. NaOnka gave her hidden immunity idol to him!

Jane and Holly were trying to figure out their strategy if NaOnka and Kelly left. They lobbied hard to get Chase and Sash to ally with them.

Sash wanted Kelly and NaOnka to stay, because they were the strongest members of his alliance. If they leave he is hung out to dry. He doesn't trust Holly and Jane, who are among the two most honest left in the game at this point on 'Survivor Nicaragua.'

Dan is just hanging around. He isn't a threat to anyone. He can't win any challenges. He is just a number in the alliance game at this point. Since he isn't a threat, Dan will not be eliminated until it really matters in the game.

'Survivor: Nicaragua' - Reward Challenge 1 Recap, episode 12

The first challenge was called 'Gulliver's Travels.' The challenge was for each team to be tethered together and carry an 8 foot stuffed "Gulliver" through a series of obstacles.

The reward was a trip to 'Survivor' cinema to see a preview of a movie to be released - "Gulliver's Travels." While at the movie they would be rewarded with movie food of all kinds - nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, candy, and drinks.

The yellow team was Fabio, Sash, Jane, and Kelly.

The blue team was composed of Holly, NaOnka, Chase, and Benry. Dan sat out the challenge and decided to side with the blue team, win or lose.

The race was neck and neck to the finish, but the blue team pulled ahead and won.

At the end of the challenge NaOnka announced that she was leaving the game. On the heels of that Kelly announced that she, too, would be leaving. Jeff talked to both the girls, but they were certain of their decision. Jeff finally told the girls he would give them until the end of the day to make a decision.

Jeff asked if anyone wanted to forgo the reward and earn a supply of rice and tarp. Holly volunteered on behalf of the camp. NaOnka, who is planning on leaving, sat there and let Holly do it, knowing she would be leaving soon. Holly may have made a move that will earn her one million dollars if she survives the 'Survivor Nicaragua' challenge.

Back at camp - 'Survivor: Nicaragua' Recap, episode 12

Holly talked to Kelly back at camp and told her to suck it up and not quit. Kelly seemed determined to quit. Holly gave her a good pep talk, but Kelly felt sure that she had nothing left to put into the game. Holly was playing the role of mother that Kelly didn't want.

Tribal Council - 'Survivor Nicaragua' Recap episode 12

A special tribal council was held because NaOnka and Kelly both said they wanted to quit the game. They had the afternoon to think about it, and then to meet with the tribal council and jury.

Holly offered another pep talk. Jane tried to talk the girls into hanging in there. Benry disparaged them for quitting.

Ultimately both NaOnka and Kelly quit.
