Recap 'Survivor Nicaragua' Episode 8

Recap and Review of 'Survivor Nicaragua' Week 8

Wendy Dawn
As "Survivor Nicaragua," episode 8 began La Flor received instructions to pack up their supplies. It was time for a tribal merge.

This was the best possible news for Marty who gave up his immunity idol last week, lost Jill who was his closest ally, and continued to be on the outs with the young La Flor tribe. A merge was his only hope for survival, and he got just what he wanted.

Espada was to be the home base camp for the entire group. The players received a huge chest, but didn't have the key. They had to wait on the arrival of La Flor, the tribe that had been given the key.

Espada starting strategizing before La Flor arrived. Alina came up with a plan to eliminate the other tribe members. No one bought into it, but she thought they did.

Once they were united the members opened the chest to find it full of bread, fruit, salami, cookies and other edible gifts.

Marty came up for a name for the new, merged tribe - Libertad, which means freedom. Marty took advantage of the tribal merge on "Survivor Nicaragua," trying to re-establish himself as a leader.

Meanwhile NaOnka and Brenda got together and started comparing notes about all of the players since the split. It was just like the old days when they were on La Flor together. She even let NaOnka know that Marty gave his immunity idol to Sash. NaOnka reminded us that she has a hidden immunity idol that only Brenda knows about.

Chase and Jane clicked and formed a genuine friendship and alliance. She confided in Chase that she had never fit in on the Espada tribe.

NaOnka got up and made tortillas. She got ticked off when she was the last one to eat tortillas, so she stole the flour from the entire tribe. She went off into the woods and hid the flour, but she didn't get by unnoticed. Holly saw her take the flour, but said nothing at the time.

Then, NaOnka lost it and started stealing food and supplies from the trunk. She took Alina under her wing, told her no one was on board with her strategy and showed her the stolen supplies. NaOnka told Alina that everyone was against her. NaOnka's strategy was not to save Alina, but to woo her when she ended up on the jury meeting out a million dollars.

Holly confronted NaOnka in front of everyone. She lied in everyone's face about taking the flour and marched off angry. Alina sat by watching. She could have won herself some votes if she had said something about NaOnka stealing the food and supplies.

Alina and Chase approached NaOnka about coming clean with the tribe. She tweaked her story to say she was rationing the flour. Only Fabio (Jud) believed her and thanked her for looking out for the tribe. Marty saw right through her tall tale and couldn't believe that anyone was gullible enough to buy her explanation.

Alina, who could have spoken up in the first place, was implicated in NaOnka's shenanigans.

Marty started gunning for Jane. He sidled up to Brenda, who didn't buy into what Marty said about Jane.

Recap "Survivor Nicaragua" episode 8 - the challenge for personal immunity

The players had to hold up a rod using the tension of metal handles. As they let up on the tension the rod would drop and their personal tile break. Within seconds three players were out, and they all started falling fast.

In this challenge immunity would be won by one man and one woman.

Jane and Holly were the final two women in the challenge, but ultimately Jane won it and won immunity.

Fabio and Chase were the final two men, and Fabio won the male immunity.

Jane held on to her rod until even Fabio fell out. She won, but hung on to her rod to prove that she could be the last one standing, and she did it.

Marty was highly frustrated that Jane won immunity. She is on his last nerve, but he is on her last nerve, as well. Her goal for the day was to beat Marty, and that is exactly what did. She then set out on a campaign to get rid of Marty.

Sash had made a promise to Marty to return the idol to him, so he convinced the alliance to vote for Alina.

By this point the groups were splintering. Alina tried to rally the group behind Marty.

As air-headed as Fabio is he is the one person that is true to himself, true to his word, and true to his friends. He was still ticked at NaOnka and wanted her voted off.
