Recap of VH1's Sober House with Dr. Drew Season 2 Episode 7

Eric Jackson
VH1's Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House continues to spin out of control. Jennifer Gimenez continues to take everything the Sober House's recovering addicts do personally. I don't know how you can even be a Sober House manager if you can't control your emotions. I think she needs more recovery time before she attempted this. I honestly don't even know why she's on the show. Using the logic of this season next season Mike Starr is going to manage the Sober House. Dr. Drew continues to confuse me by his very limited presents. He's becoming a voice over post production Doctor.

The editing and pacing make this show unwatchable because now it is a more junkie version of MTV's The Real World. VH1 has become reality central and will continue to use this formula because it works for commercials and not actual watchable television. I'm not going to lie to you when I say I fell asleep during episode 7 and 8. The show gets away from its actual purpose and you have celebrities acting out so they can get on TMZ or have more air time after editing. You get the feeling the producers are running the show and everything is fake. Why only 8 episodes for an entire month of recovery?

Loesha Zeviar is co-manager

In an effort to demote Jennifer Gimenez and not actually fire her for provoking dope sick Mike Starr Loesha Zeviar of Celebrity Rehab fame comes to co-manage the house. Jennifer of course takes this personally and doesn't consider for a second that she should actually be fired. She's so controlling and that probably helped her get sober, but it isn't helping anyone else. The logic is that if I can personally get sober then I can henpeck everyone else into being sober. You're letting the inmates run the prison. So now a professional (i.e. not celebrity) comes in and everything runs much smoother.

Dr. Drew talks about graduation plans

In group Dr. Drew wants to here everyone's plan for after Sober House. They need a plan because the end is drawing near. Here is the quick and dirty:

-Dennis "Rodzilla" Rodman: Can't say he's never going to drink again. He can't make any promises, but he is working towards that goal and also meeting all his court requirements. He can't change his life enough to get away from alcohol because everyone in the world wants to buy him a drink.

- Heidi Fleiss: Is going to stay sober and go back to her birds. Dennis jumps in right away to add and say she will use again. He points out how she's not changing anything. Dr. Drew agrees and says that she needs to change her life to distance her from addiction.

-Tom Sizemore: Is going to afternoon meetings with his cracky girlfriend Monroe. He's also getting a new place with Monroe. Dr. Drew also suggests morning meetings as well. He's also opened a checking account.

-Mike Starr: Isn't sure what to do and seems unable to admit that he's in a really bad place. You can just see the pain in his eyes as his body screams for methadone. He's willing to do what he's told because he knows that any choices he makes will lead him back to heroin. He is going to more Sober House of the untelevised variety.

The rest had nondescript plans that were unmemorable. Honestly they simply aren't as bad as the others and as long as they stay away from their old lives they should remain sober.

Tom goes to court

This was boring because it was simply a status check that they tried to hype up to sound serious. He just stood before the judge and agreed to keep doing what he's doing.

Dennis sees his mom for the first time in 7 years

Dennis finally agreed to see his mother for the first time in 7 years. She was so happy to see him and just looked him over the entire meeting. He's aged and also has more tattoos. Dr. Drew brings up that Dennis is really a sweet guy who will do anything for anyone and people have taken advantage of him because of that. At some point he felt that his family was doing that too so he shut them out. Dennis never told Dr. Drew any of this, but he just got that feeling which is confirmed by Dennis. Something happened between them and now it's been so long they both don't feel so strongly about it. They hugged and then he took his mother out to meet their grandchildren.

Sober Party and Seth Binzer sucks

Since the month of sober living is coming to a close the house decides to throw a party without drugs or alcohol to celebrate. For many of the residents this is the first time they have ever been to a party without drugs or alcohol. Everyone invites friends, but of course the lead singer of Crazy Town Seth Binzer invites a bunch of fucked up people. So after this one girl continually acts out she gets tested and is positive for cocaine and benzodiazepine (valium). Jenna is a porn start and friends of Seth's. Seth can't deal so he goes to bed leaving the house to deal with his messed up friend. The house mates are pissed at him for bailing, but then evangelical house manager Jennifer Gimenez sets to save Jenna's soul. Here is where I call bullshit. No porn star is going to stay in a place where they know she's high and trying to get her into rehab. She must have stayed for hours because it's just Bob Forest and Jennifer Gimenez trying to talk her into going to a hospital to detox. Addicts hate two words, "hospital" and "detox." It was either staged or a serious cry for camera attention from some porn star. If anyone can find any of her films let me know.
