Recession, Gas Prices Top Chicago Voters' Minds

Sunflower
This year is the presidential election. So many things have happened that affect how America will survive this crisis and recover. I hope we'll be able to recover from what looks like a recession. Because everyone is affected in the Chicago area by foreclosure, job loss and outrageous gas and food prices. Local issues aren't going away until we can elect a president who'll address them and not sweep them under the rug just to get elected. Everyone is hoping that senators Barack Obama or John McCain will be able to do just that. If this country goes any further into a recession, we may never recover.

Obama has said he is for helping every American obtain affordable health care and put an end this war in Iraq so the troops can return home. And that is just some of what he's proposing to do. McCain is proposing off shore drilling, which may be a good thing for our country. We have to wait and see. He's also proposing to have another stimulus payment that would help with all the money we've spent on gas and food since the recession started. But, you have to wondering if all that talk isn't just for them to get a foot in the door and after that we're right back to the same old politics. I hope we can really see a big change this time around because Americans can't take much more of this without a real big change.

We need jobs in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs as well as affordable health care, insurance and gas in our cars -- in order to get to our jobs and to get food on our tables. We can't live on empty promises! I think this election is on everyone's mind everyday, and you'll properly see more voters come out in November.

Chicago needs jobs today. We've lost our jobs due to out-sourcing to other countries. Those job needs to be brought back to Chicago, which has had cuts in the budget for city workers and education. Many have lost health care Insurance when they lost their jobs.

The economy is taking a toll on everyone. Unemployment is on the rise, and gas prices have gone down below $4, but can we expect it to last? That's what the people of Chicago want to know.

You're right about that! and I know we've all has had to dig deep into our pockets. And a solution would be nice.
