Pick up drop off- Set up a business in your community to pick up and/or drop off little kids to their summer activities and walk them home. Many parents will have to work long hours in the summer and might need someone to walk their kids home or drop them to wherever they need to go in the morning.
Car pool- If you have a license and are a responsible driver then you could carpool little children. This could be an alternate version of the pick up drop off business idea. Advertise around your local community and talk to parents you see in the park with small children to let them know of your business. You can post flyers on the bulletin board of your supermarket, or around town. You could even have your parents let their friends know of your potential business.
Babysitting- You will make great money with this business. The babysitting business has been around for quite sometime and never seems to fail when it comes to making money. You can get paid at a higher rate for babysitting if you drive or know CPR or have any experience watching small children.
Day school- This is similar to babysitting except that you will provide activities and snacks for the little children for a few hours. You will also provide the small children with a safe place to play in your home. If you have a safe space to accommodate 3-5 children then this could be a business for you. You might need to invest in; age appropriate toys, small table and chairs, some craft supplies, and healthy snacks for the little children.
Sell snacks- Purchase some snacks (chips, candy, candy bars) at a dollar store or buy them in bulk at a wholesale market and sell them in front of your home, at the park, or at the beach. You might need a vendor permit to sell these snacks so check with your town's or city's city hall to make sure that you obtain the proper permit.
Sell ice cream, juice, and popsicles- If you start this business in the summer you will make a killing. The days will be very hot and people will need something to cool them down. If you get the proper permit you should be able to sell ice cream. You might also need to rent an ice cream cart to keep your ice cream from melting.
Sell lemonade and drinks- Just as with selling the ice cream, you will make great money selling drinks. Buy your refreshments in bulk and sell a great variety from soda, to juice, to ice tea, to water and regular and diet. Set up your stand near an area where people jog and hang out. If you establish your cart in an area populated by people you will have a higher chance of making more money. You might need a permit for this.
Sell home baked goods- This type of business is rare in the summer but this very fact might bring people to you. Sell baked goods such as cookies, and cakes with a smile. Be sure that you read on how to properly store baked goods in heat. You will need a permit and maybe even a license to sell these goods.
Dog Walking- Dogs always need walking and sometimes owners become very busy during the summer and do not have much time to walk them. You can offer to walk peoples' dogs in the summer for a small fee.
Pet Sitting- Summer is the season where many people vacation. People who have pets might not have the option of taking their pets with them. If you have the time and patience to take care of an animal or two over the summer then this could be the business for you. Some people might just need someone to come to their home a few times a week to feed and clean after their small animals such as cats, birds, fish, or lizards. Others will require that their animal(s) stay in your home with you until they return home.
Gardener- If you have a knack for planting this is the job for you. You can offer to plant beautiful plants on people's property and help them keep up their gardens.
Tutoring- If you get A's and B's in any subject in school then you can offer to tutor others over the summer.
The possibilities are endless. Whatever businesses you decide to pursue you always need to remember to be kind and patient to the customers and to price your goods at a reasonable price.
