ITEMS THE KIDS WILL NEED:
First, you will need to get some plain small recipe boxes for the kids to use. They do not need to be fancy, because the kids are going to decorate them. Simply cardboard recipe boxes will work, or small boxes with a lid that are about the size of a recipe box.
Next, you will need some plain cards to use as recipe cards, you could even use index cards and let the kids decorate them a little if you would like. Otherwise, just find some cheap recipe cards that will fit into your boxes. You will also need some glue, colored card stock paper, buttons, lace, markers, and anything else you want the kids to use to decorate the recipe boxes with.
DECORATING THE RECIPE BOXES:
To get started you may need to have the kids cut the pieces of colored card stock paper to fit the sides of the recipe box, so that it can be glued on to the box. If you are using cardboard recipe boxes, then the kids do not need to add the cardstock paper, they can simply draw with markers right on the cardboard.
Once the kids have drawn the designs that they want on the recipe box they could add lace or buttons or even glitter to the box as well. This will help add a little more decor to the box to make it special for mom. Moms will love this Mother's day gift because they will always cherish and be able to use it or display it in their kitchen.
