2 cups All-purpose flour
1/2 cup Firmly-packed brown sugar
1 cup Softened butter or margarine
Pinch Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.2
Combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat at low speed, scrapping the sides often, until completely mixed -- about 2-3 minutes.3
Shape into 1-inch balls.4
Roll each of the balls in colored sugars, usually red and green for the Christmas holidays.5
Place 1-inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Use the back of a teaspoon to make a depression in the middle of each cookie. Bake for 8 minutes.Tip
Suggested toppings: chocolate stars, candied cherries, caramels (cut in half), fruit preserves.If you wish to roll your cookies in nuts, you should first roll them in egg whites and then in the nuts.
