Recipe for Fried Brussel Sprouts

not sure
I never used to buy brussel sprouts often, not because I didn't like them, but rather because my wife can't stand them. I think it's safe to say that the majority of the population dislikes brussel sprouts! This may be caused by the fact that your parents made you eat them at a young age and you have bad memories of brussel sprouts, thus you won't touch them today. Or you simply don't like the taste of them. I've managed to get my wife to eat these with a simple and tasty recipe, "Fried Brussel Sprouts". By frying them you actually eliminate that "Brussel Sprout" taste! I recommend you try these before you say you don't like brussel sprouts.

Ingredients

As many Brussel Sprouts as you like (fresh are better than frozen)

5 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 tablespoon Butter or Margarine

Lemon Juice

Salt and Pepper if desired

Directions

1. Remove any brown or rotten outer leaves of brussel sprouts and cut in half lengthwise

2. In sauce pan, heat olive oil on medium heat and melt in butter or margarine

3. Add the brussel sprouts flat side down

4. Cover pan and cook for 10-12 minutes. Brussel Sprouts should be dark brown or golden, not burnt

5. Flip brussel sprouts and cook uncovered for an additional 2-3 minutes

6. Remove from pan and add lemon juice as desired

7. Season with salt and pepper if desired (I don't use any) and serve warm

You could also add some garlic during the last few minutes. These go well with pork, chicken or lamb. Enjoy!
