Recipes for Home Made Hair Care Products

It is a simple fact. It can become quite costly to keep your hair shiny and healthy. With this in mind I have compiled a list of hair care products that you can make at home from items that you may already have on hand. Another thing to consider is that these home made items will not contain some of the harsh chemicals that are found in store bought shampoos and conditioners.

Shampoos:

Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one half cup of warm water, Massage though hair and rinse.

Mix two tablespoons of lemon juice with one half cup of warm water. Massage through hair and rinse.

Dissolve two tablespoons of sea salt to one cup of warm water. Massage through hair, leave on for five minutes then rinse throughly.

Put about two tablespoons of baking soda in the palm of your hand. Add just a few drips of water, just enough to make a paste. Massage through your hair and leave for one minute. Rinse thoroughly.

Conditioners:

Saturate your hair with olive oil. Wrap your head in plastic wrap. and cover with a warm moist towel.Heat the towel in the microwave for a few minutes. You want the towel to be very hot, but not hot enough to be uncomfortable. Leave on your hair for thirty minutes. Reheating the towel as necessary.

Add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to one cup of warm water. After shampooing and rinsing, pour over hair and towel dry.

Mash one half of an avocado. Add one half cup of pure mayonnaise massage into the hair, paying close attention to the tips. Wrap your hair in plastic wrap and then cover with a warm moist towel. Warm the towel in the microwave for a few minutes. You want the towel to be hot but not uncomfortably so. Leave for about twenty minutes, reheating the towel as necessary.

After you shampoo, pour the contents of one can of beer through your hair. Rinse.

Apply two or three egg yolks through your hair, leave on for ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Hair Spray:

Chop one lemon or orange and place in a saucepan with two cups of water. Boil until it reduces by half. Let cool and strain into spray bottle. Add one ounce of rubbing alcohol for a preservative.

Mix one tablespoon sugar, one half cup hot water and one teaspoon of olive oil. Mix well and pour into spray bottle.

Hair Gel:

One teaspoon unflavored gelatin dissolved in one cup of boiling water. Cool and put into any container. Keep stored in the refrigerator.

Hair Detangler:

In a saucepan combine one half cup of fresh oregano leaves, one teaspoon vanilla extract and one cup of water. Let simmer for 30 minutes. Cool and strain. Pour into spray bottle.
