Featured Recipes: Pice Ar Y Maen (Welsh Cakes), Tiesen Tincar (Tinker's Cake) and Dinca Fala

Who doesn't love a cake? For a party, Sunday tea or just because, all the world loves a cake. Here are three Welsh favorties for you to try.

Pice Ar Y Maen (Welsh Cakes)
Ingredients: 8 oz flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, 2 oz margarine, 2 oz lard, 3 oz sugar, 2 oz currants, ¼ teaspoon mixed spice, pinch of salt, 1 egg, and a splash of milk.

Rub the lard into the flour. Add dry ingredients, then egg and milk. Mix into a stiff paste - as stiff as for short pastry. Roll out; cut into rounds and bake on a girdle.

Teisen Tincar (Tinker's Cake)
Ingredients: 1 lb. flour, 6 oz sugar, pinch of salt, ½ lb. butter or margarine, a bit of grated apple

Mix all the ingredients into stiff dough roll out and cut into small round. Bake on a girdle and enjoy!

Dinca Fala
Ingredients: 10 oz self raising flour, 5 oz butter, 5 oz demerara sugar, 1 lb. cooking apples

Rub the butter into flour, and add sugar and the apples that have been peeled and cut into small pieces, Mix with some milk to make a fairly stiff mixture and put into greased tins. Bake in a moderate oven for ½ hour.
