Mitestarossa
MRSA is a staph infection called Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It is known for being highly contagious and difficult to treat. It can also be fatal for people with weakened immune systems, infants and seniors. MRSA is most commonly spread by skin to skin contact or skin contact with something that an infected individual just touched. It is easily spread in environments such as gyms, high school and college gyms and locker rooms.

Look for a Skin Infection to Recognize MRSA Symptoms

Initially you may mistake the rash of a MRSA infection as a spider bite. If you have something that looks like a spider bite but does not go away, it could be MRSA. A skin infection due to MRSA may be red, swollen, itchy, painful, filled with pus and irritated. It is also very fast spreading.

The rash is very contagious if someone else touches it, most likely they will contract the staph infection.

Look for Signs of a Lung Infection to Recognize MRSA Symptoms

Another sign of MRSA is a lung infection. Symptoms of a lung infection are similar to pneumonia or the flu. A MRSA infection can actually turn into pneumonia. Symptoms of a lung infection include: pain in the extremities, coughing, sore throat, fever, chills, and shortness of breath.

Look for Indications of a Urinary Tract Infection to Recognize MRSA Symptoms

MRSA can cause urinary tract infections. Symptoms of urinary tract infections include pain, increased urination, or discharge.

Check Your Blood Stream for a MRSA Infection

MRSA will show up in your blood stream. Your doctor can test if you have general all over pain or extreme fatigue.

If you have any symptoms contact your doctor immediately. If you have MRSA be sure to follow your doctors orders. Once you have been treated keep monitoring your symptoms. If your symptoms persist or worsen, you should go back to the doctor. Some times MRSA does not go away or it worsens. It may mean that you need a different medication to treat your symptoms.

MRSA is a very serious illness that can lead to death. Watch out for symptoms in yourself and your loved ones and get treated immediately. Symptoms can come on quickly, don't delay going to your doctor or to an emergency room.

Protect yourself in locker rooms and gyms by wiping down equipment before you use it and wearing sandals in the shower. Do not touch things that are covered in sweat. Wash your hands often throughout your day.
