Recognizing and Treating an Infected Belly Button

Belly button piercings still seem to be very popular. Many girls want them in time for summer and showing them off at the beach. With the tons of different jewelry and the new style of getting the bottom of the Belly button pierced infects are bound to happen. If you get an infection it's not the end of the world or mean that you have to take the piercing out, just follow these tricks and the infection will be gone in no time.

Here is how to tell if you have an infected belly button and to spot the signs of an infection. A belly button piercing gets infected when bacteria gets into the piercing. The first 6 weeks of your piercing you are very prone to infections. An infection can be identified but oozing piss, redness, slight blood, and pain.

To prevent infection you want to wash your belly button in the shower. Make sure it is the last thing you wash before you get out. Wash it with anti bacterial soap, may I suggest Dial the gold bar. When drying it DO NOT use your towel. Towels hold bacteria, use a paper napkin or paper towel to dry the piercing. You can also hold a cup of warm water um to your belly button twice a day. This helps rinse dirt out if the piercing. Also make sure the top of your pants aren't rubbing against it constantly this is will irritate it and make it more prone to infection.

If you find you do have an infected belly button piercing, like I did, then you want to start treating it right away. There are a few ways to get rid of an infection to a belly button piercing but I did it a very simple and painless way. I started by spraying Bactine on the piercing twice a day and washing it twice in the shower. I got lucky and my infection went away.

You may also notice your piercing healed and you put a new ring in and noticed infection symptoms. This could be cause by a few things. One being that you have a sensitivity to the metal the ring is made out of. next could be if you have a ring in that has a shape or a design that it could be causing the ring to snag on your clothes or even on the belly button itself.

Whoever posted the comment on 5/17/10 sounds like a bully. If you do not think the source is reliable simply because of a spelling error, then, do not follow that particular suggestion. To discount someone else because of typo is disrespectful. There is no need for the snarky immature comments about it.
Posting such comments is immature and disrespectful. National, (reliable) print media also has errors. Do you contact the newspaper or the magazine company to put them on blast when you see a mistake? ...Probably not. Negative online posts are only made because the opportunity to be rude is available through open feedback.
Be dignified and respectful of others. It will help improve our downward spiraling society!

hi, that was a very helpful artical, thanks heaps, i ve had my belly pierced 3 times now and the first was a bad infection, few years later 2nd 1 decided to reject.. sex didnt help that 1 at the start, got infected, now this 1, had done 6 weeks ago, still redness on the top and bottom of piercing, but nothing like the others, no puss or as much pain during the healing process. i had done all the right things this times, i dont touch it without washing hands, etc. i have 3 gold bars i got from the jewlers, 4 the second piercing, no good;so this time i come across these anti rejection bars from tatto shop where i got it done, made of some sort of plastic, a bit longer for the swelling to go down.. ive been using rocksalt in a shot glass, , but want to try this bactine for a quick recovery, thanks for that. ps, im 48 yrs old, cheers all.....
