Recollection - a Poem for Good Friday

Recollection

Rachael A. Lund
When I recall what You suffered
and the death You had to endure
to bring life to others
it brings tears to my eyes
knowing that I am one of souls
You suffered and died for
to bring life to

When I consider the depth of Your love
willing to shed Your blood
as a sacrifice for our sins
it makes me want to love You more
to live a more holy life
to be more pleasing in Your eyes
leaving more sins behind

When I remember all You saved me from
rescuing me from a life of destruction
and an eternity in Hell
I desire to give You more of my life
hoping to be useful in Your hands
doing what You ask of me
and going wherever You send me

When I think of those still lost
separate from Your great love
dying without hope every day
I fall to my knees before You
begging to be sent
wanting my life and someday my death
to bring life to others through You
