Studying Abroad is a great opportunity for most areas of collegiate study. Recreation Majors have a special opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand. One program that Recreation Majors may be especially suited for is the University of Auckland.

The University of Auckland is bordered by two city parks and is in the heart of the city of Auckland. Auckland's population is approximately 1.29 million. The University offers over 100 student organizations on campus from academic to cultural, religious to political and many more. The University of Auckland is also particularly famous for their Auckland Tramping Club. The Tramping Club explores the natural wonders of New Zealand and teaches bush-craft, snow-craft and leadership skills.

Housing for the study abroad program in the University of Auckland includes off-campus accommodation within walking distance of campus. The University is well known for its excellent research breakthroughs. It was also ranked #1 in the country for research performance by the New Zealand government.

The University of Auckland has also been rated the world's 52nd best University in The Times Higher Education Supplement's 2005 University rankings. This school is highly accredited and a great location to study abroad.

The University of Sydney is located in the heart of Sydney Australia. It is surrounded by many unique inner-city neighborhoods. The University is home to the world's most famous harbors, multiple beaches, beautiful gardens, museums, theatres and much more.

The population of Sydney is 4.2 million and student enrollment at the University is 35,000. Students in the study abroad program typically take 3-5 courses in one semester and are required to have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The University also hosts 4000 International students. Campus activities include over 300 student clubs and 40 international student groups. There is a great social network and support services for students.

The University has a Capoeira Society, a Brazilian Martial Arts club and scuba and rock-climbing clubs. Each of these clubs is an amazing way for international students to study abroad and gain valuable recreation experience.

Participants in the Study Australia program will reside in furnished, self-catering off-campus apartments and houses with other US study-abroad students. There are options for apartments in trendy inner-city neighborhoods or luxury high-rise apartments.
