Recycle Your Clothes: How to Make a Bracelet Mobile

If you have any old bracelets lying around that you don't wear anymore, don't throw them away, you can make an elegant ceiling decoration or mobile with them. It only takes a few minutes and can be made with things you have already in the house! Use thin bracelets in one colour to create an elegant look, you can use any kind of colour you want depending on the colour of the room. Silver, gold, red, turquoise, blue, green or black, whatever colour you think will look nicest!

Or if you are creating a mobile to hang above a baby or child bed, you can use thicker, brightly coloured bangles to create a fun look.

You will need:

Bracelets

Thread

Plastic lid of a large pot/tub

Large needle

String or ribbon

Step 1. Poke a hole in the middle of the lid of a plastic tub with the needle; poke 6 more holes at equal spaces round the outside. Cut six pieces of thread in the same length.

Step 2. Poke the string through the one of the holes you made around the outside and tie a knot in the top to prevent it from slipping down. Repeat with the other 5 pieces. Tie a bangle to the end of the pieces that you have just hung, you can tie them all at the same lengths or at different lengths. Cut your piece of ribbon or string to poke through the middle hole, this will give you something to hang it with, tie a knot by the hole so it doesn't slip through.

Step 3: Cut another six pieces of thread of equal lengths and tie them to the bottom of the bangles that are tied on. Again, you can tie them all the same length or different lengths. Tie another bangle onto the bottom of these pieces of string, you can keep going until you reach the desired length that you want your decoration to be.

You can also make a beautiful wall hanging or door curtain in much the same way. Simply use a piece of dowelling or wood and either drill small holes or tie the thread around the top. Tie the bangles in the same way, make sure that you tie the thread tightly to prevent them slipping.
