Supplies. The supplies you will need to make this great recycled toy are two baby socks (they don't need to match, that's the point!), some cotton batting, a small cat toy that jingles, and some fun ribbon. There is no sewing required to make this cute baby rattle created from recycled mismatched baby socks.
Directions. To create a baby rattle from mismatched single baby socks, start by surrounding the jingly cat toy with some cotton batting. Stuff the cotton batting down into one of the baby socks. Keep stuffing----you want the batting to really fill the sock, making a tight surface to the sock. Once you have filled the baby sock completely with the cotton batting, place this filled sock inside the other baby sock. You will have to really pull and stretch to get it to fit. If you have any plain socks you can use those for the inside sock and use the super cute mismatched ones for the outside sock. Finally, secure the top of the second sock with double tied ribbons. Be sure to use secure double knots for this final step.
Precautions. Because the small parts of the jingly bell placed inside this recycled baby rattle can be dangerous for little ones, this toy should always be played with while your little one is supervised. While it is very unlikely that tiny fingers could manipulate the double knots on this homemade toy, stranger things have happened. To be safe, always supervise your baby when she is playing with any toy, but most especially when she is playing with homemade toys as they are not manufactured to any specifications for safety.
Don't let those cute little mismatched baby socks end up in the trash. Follow these simple, no-sew directions for creating adorable baby rattles from recycled baby socks. Not only may your own baby love this recycled toy, these cute rattles make great tags for baby shower gifts as well. Go green with your next baby gift and supply a wonderful recycled rattle made from mismatched single baby socks.
