Recycled Aluminum Cans to Fund Wedding

Andrea Parker
In Spokane, Washington, a couple is saving aluminum cans in order to recycle them. Many people have done that, so what is unusual about Andrea Parrish and Steve Geyer? The reason they are saving the cans. The couple is saving and recycling aluminum cans in an effort to fund their wedding.

According to NPR, the engaged couple has already collected 18,000 cans, which they are storing in their living room. They plan to be married on July 31, but still have quite a way to go, as 400,000 cans is their overall goal. 400,000 cans is about five tons of aluminum and will fund a $4,000 wedding. The couple wants a very modest wedding with just a potluck and home-brewed beer.

Anyone may donate cans in the Spokane, Washington, area and the couple will come and pick them up. Outside of the Washington area, they ask that people take cans to a local recycling center and turn them in. Then, put some of the money toward the wedding effort via the couple's Paypal link. On their website, www.weddingcans.com, they list local recycling centers for people living outside Spokane.

On the website, the couple states that environmental responsibility plays a big part in their lives. On "Wedding Cans Are Ringing for One Spokane Couple," Andrea Parrish stated, according to KXLY4. "I have faith in how crazy people are and how crazy of an idea it could be; and it could work."

I thinks it a terrific green idea. Who cares what others think. I 've heard a few negative comments from people, but I think its very green and pretty sharp of them.
