Recycled Bottle Cap Pet Tag for Your Dog or Cat
Go Green by Making a Pet Tag Out of Recycled Bottle Cap
Pet tags can be made very easily with recycled bottle caps. Go green and keep your pet safe at the same time by making a recycled bottle cap pet tag for your dog or cat.
Supplies needed for a recycled bottle cap pet tag:
1 bottle cap
1 can of spray paint in your pets favorite color
Colored printer paper
1 inch circle hole punch or scissors
White glue
Clear craft glaze such as Diamond Glaze or Crystal Effects
Hammer
Small nail
Newspaper
Pliers
Jump ring
Directions to make a recycled bottle cap pet tag:
First you need to spray paint your recycled bottle cap. You should do this outside or in a well ventilated garage because of the toxic fumes. Put newspaper on the ground and spray evenly over the entire bottle cap. Then let the spray paint dry.
While the spray paint is drying, use a word processor to type out your cat or dogs information for the bottle cap pet tag. You should include your pet's name, your address and phone number so that anyone who finds your missing dog or cat can contact you. Use a small font and make sure this information is no wider than 1 inch across so it can fit in your recycled bottle cap pet tag. Print the information on colorful printer paper. Once it is printed, use a 1 inch hole punch to cut it out. You can also use scissors and cut a circle around the printed information.
After the bottle cap is dry, you need to punch a hole in it. This is how you will attach your recycled bottle cap pet tag to your dog or cats collar. Turn the bottle cap upside down, and gently punch a hole into one of the sides by using a hammer and nail.
Next, use white glue to the glue the printed information into the inside of the bottle cap. Make sure that the hole you punched is on top. Then let the glue dry.
After the glue is dry, fill up the recycled bottle cap with the clear craft glaze so that it goes completely over contact information and to the top of the bottle cap. If there are bubbles, gently tap the bottle cap on the hard surface so that they pop. Let your recycled bottle cap pet tag dry overnight.
The next day, you can attach the pet tag to your dog or cats collar. To do this, use pliers to open the jump ring. Put the jump ring through the hole on top of the bottle cap and then close the ring around your pet's collar with the pliers.
Your dog or cat will look great and stay safe with this bottle cap pet tag and you'll feel great for recycling!
