Recycled Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas

We Can Follow Recycled Holiday Gift Wrapping Ethics and Still Have Fun, Too

Michael Thompson
Smart people in the past pursued recycled gift wrapping ideas before recycling even was popular. Some folks nowadays follow Christmas recycled gift wrapping ideas even if they aren't worried about overstuffed landfills, or forest clear-cutting, or global warming. They're not even concerned with the environment. They just want to save money.

So, if you're a "green" environmental activist, that's just one reason to consider recycled gift wrapping ideas. With the money you save, you might even decide to plant a tree!

Following are some options for recycled Christmas gift wrapping ideas:

(1) Use newspaper. Ooops, wait. You don't subscribe to a newspaper anymore. Ah, that's very "green" of you, but people like you caused this here author to get let go from his newspaper job because of downsizing. Lol, no hard feelings. But what the heck, go out and help a starving "mainstream media" journalist by spending two bucks on a Sunday paper (or five bucks if it's the N.Y. Times), and you'll have all the recycled Christmas gift wrapping that you need.

(2) If you feel somewhat, well, "guilty" about wrapping a gift in newspaper for a charming and innocent and wide-eyed child who never in life has done anything to offend Santa, don't despair. Save the Sunday funnies for the kids' gifts, and good gracious, will you puh-leeze admit that sometimes they really act like spoiled brats.

(3) Speaking of kids, here's a good one, if I do say so myself. If the child is old enough to emotionally bear up to some friendly adult teasing, then buy a nice gift but pack it into an empty cereal box. Cheerios, let's say, or Lucky Charms. The kid will think, "I don't believe it, Uncle Jerry does tease me all the time, but I can't believe he's giving me a box of cereal for Christmas." Then when the youngster opens the box and finds an iPod, let's say, he will love-love Uncle Jerry forevermore.

(4) Okay, fellas, since we are in a ha-ha holiday recycled gift wrapping idea mode, we propose the ultimate test. You love her. You love her so-so much. You pray 24 hours a day that she will agree to be your fiancé. After all, she's even more into the green ecology movement than you are, and that says a lot. So, you plan to pop the question on Christmas. Take that ring in it's beautiful velvet little box ..... and wrap it in a recycled toilet paper roll. If your relationship can survive this, then you're good to go for a happy 75 years (or whatever) of marital bliss.

(5) For our final Christmas recycled gift wrapping idea, how about this: Don't wrap the danged gift at all. Just give it to the person.

LOL - great funny!!!! Its not green but hilarious - my grandpa "recycled" a bread bag and a brown paper - taped it with duct tape and filled it with neck-ties from the 50's and gave to my ex-husband. The expression on his face OMG!!!
I'm with Gwen I save even the scraps, OR turn iside out and decorate myself.
Love this article!!! Excellent YOU! =)

LOL!!!! This reminds me of my grandmother, who has saved everything since the War. Can't tell you how many times we actually reuse the same Christmas wrapping paper year after year. I can hear her now (in thick Filipino accent): "Do not rip the wrapping paper!"

    Thanks for making me laugh!
