Recycled Materials Needed to Make a Paper Flowers Heart Wreath
To create this one-of-a-kind heart wreath, you'll need a large cardboard cereal or other box, old magazines, glue stick, twist ties or floral wire, scissors, ruler, paper punch, tape and ribbon.
Recycled Crafts Project: How to Make a Paper Flowers Heart Wreath
The first step involved with making a paper flowers heart wreath is to first cut a heart shape design out of a flattened cereal box or other large chipboard cardboard box. The cardboard needs to be strong enough to keep its shape and hold the paper flowers in place since it will serve as the base for the heart wreath. Use scissors to trim the inside out of the heart shape so you end up with a heart shaped wreath base that is approximately one-inch wide.
Next look through magazines and tear out pages that feature the colors you'd like your wreath to contain. You'll need approximately eight magazine pages. Once you've collected all the pages you'd like to use, cut the magazine pages into 3-inch strips so you'll end up with pieces that are approximately 3-inches wide by 11-inches high.
Using the magazine strip, accordion fold the page until there is no paper remaining. Place a twist-tie or floral wire in the middle of the accordion-folded paper and twist closed. To make a paper flower, use a glue stick and run over each side of the accordion-folded paper. Open the ends of each side of the paper up until they meet and hold the edges together until the glue dries. Repeat this step until you've made enough flowers to cover the cardboard base.
Next, determine where you want to secure the paper flower. Use your paper punch to punch a hole in the cardboard heart wreath base. Run the wire base of the paper flower through the hole in the heart wreath base and fold the wire over. Use tape to secure the flower in place. Repeat this step until you have covered the heart wreath cardboard base completely.
The ribbon will be used to hang your wreath. Cut a piece of ribbon that's long enough to serve as a hanger. Use tape to secure the ribbon to the back of the wreath. Hang and enjoy.
You can easily modify this project to create wall decorations of all shapes and sizes. Since this recycled crafts project uses recycled materials, you don't have to worry about storing it when you tire of the design. You can simply recycle it.
