They have fried fish and all the sides at a very reasonable price of $5.00 for an all you can eat extravaganza. The event is held in the entertainment hall of the Donoho Hotel, which the owner generously provides free of charge for the worthy cause. There is also entertainment at the event, usually Blue Grass Music, which is provided by local musicians who volunteer their services. All of the food for the event is also donated, and this makes it possible for the group to literally give all of the proceeds to the event back to the community's needy families and people who have applied for assistance.
One might wonder exactly who benefits from this and how they are selected. An eight-member committee selects the people who receive the benefits of this fish fry, and they make the selections based upon applications submitted to the Palace Care and Rehab in Red Boiling Springs. The applications for assistance can be picked up at the Palace, and also submitted back there for anyone looking for assistance. Once the committee receives these applications they make the final determination of who will receive the assistance.
In today's day and age it is a treasure to see one community giving a helping hand to those truly in need, and to have an entire event where members of the community consistently donate their time, talents, and even a place to hold the event is nothing short of amazing. The fish fry held on August 31 served roughly 300 people, so they raised about $1500 to help the needy within their own community. The event organizers expect to serve even more people at their next fish fry, and consequently be able to help even more of the needy in their community. They urge everyone in Red Boiling Springs and adjoining communities to come out for a night of fun, entertainment and great food, and to remember that it is all for a great cause!
