Red Lobster's Endless Shrimp: A Review

Red Lobster's Endless Shrimp promotion is one of the hottest promotions for the company. People wait until early September to get their fill of Red Lobster's Endless Shrimp. I use to be one of them. However, after my last visit to the Red Lobster in Butler, Pennsylvania, I have to say that I will not go back for their Endless Shrimp again. As the prices go up, the size of the shrimp go down. A promotion that once carried the quality of Red Lobster's regular food line has now become a mere gimmick to bring people in the door.

Red Lobster's Endless Shrimp promotion begins in early September and runs through and unknown date. I am assuming it is until they have met their quota, but it seems to usually end somewhere in late October. I remember the first Endless Shrimp promotion I went to at Red Lobster. You got large and succulent shrimp that were available in many different varieties for under $15 a person. This time the variety was different but the price had climbed to $17 a person.

Red Lobster's newest addition to the Endless Shrimp is the Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp. The Shrimp is served on a skewer over a bed of rice. The Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp had all the makings to be hit, but for me the presentation was far better than the taste. The shrimp in Red Lobsters Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp were hardly gilled. Although they were fully cooked they appeared to have been steamed, thrown quickly on the grill to burn the ends of the skewers, and then basted with sauce. There was not a grilled taste to the shrimp at all.

The Shrimp Scampi from the Endless Shrimp collection was, as I remembered, very tasty. The Cajun Shrimp was another that fell short in the taste category. The Cajun Shrimp was very greasy and very salty. Of course the salads were larger than normal as were the portions of fries that they give you. They are hoping you fill up on other things and eat less shrimp.

The best part about our meal at Red lobster in Butler, Pennsylvania during the Endless Shrimp was the service. It was a nice surprise to receive the same quality of service as you would normally, since everything else was of lesser quality. Our server was very nice and had our drink refills ready before we had even asked. She was there when we needed her and recommended we order our next round of shrimp as our previous order was just being served.

I've been craving shrimp but there aren't any good seafood places in our area ... and the Red Lobster here in town has yucky food.

I have not tried this restaurant in 10 years my first visit the shrimp and oysters were undercooked and I got sick so I have never gone back. I always say that this example is one that shows any restaurant that if you don't do it right all the time then you will not have anyone returning most people won't even take good reviews and go back someplace that has made them sick.
