Red Meat Recipes for Thanksgiving Dinner

Swedish Meatballs

1 1/2 pounds hamburger
1/2 cup finely crushed Ritz crackers

1 egg
2/3 cup milk
2 Tbsp grated onion

1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. nutmeg

Mix all ingredients together.

Make into balls.

Brown the meatballs in grease, once browned add flour and water, and let simmer about 20 to 30 minutes until done.

Beef Roast Potatoes and Carrots

Bake your beef roast with 2 glasses of water, salt and pepper to taste, and add some onion or onion flakes to the beef roast bake for 3 1/2 hours at 350 degrees ( I like to use a roasting pan) after 2 hours put in your potatoes and carrots, cover and cook. Once your roast is done, add either cornstarch or flour to the water to make your gravy. I like to cut my roast up right in the roasting pan, and serve as well right from the roaster, but you can transfer everything to a platter if you wish).

Beef Sirloin Tips and Gravy

2 pounds beef sirloin tip (cut up in small pieces)
1 can mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 envelope brown gravy mix
salt and pepper

In kettle boil tips till done. Drain tips, saving the juices. Keep 2 cups of broth.
Put the soups and brown gravy mix in your crock pot and mix well. Add in the broth until the gravy is thick to your liking (it thickens slowly). The add the tips and let cook on medium for 25 minutes (or you can cook on low and let simmer all day). You can also add mushrooms at this time if you wish. I like to serve the tips on the side.

Thank you all for your comments. I don't necessarily buck tradition, but it is always nice to have something different along with your Thanksgiving meal of Turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy and veggies. As many people now a days can not eat the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Hugs Mary
