Red Roof Inn in Enfield, CT Provides Guests with New, Comfortable, and Elegant Rooms
Motel Amenities Higher Than Competing Properties

Me and my girlfriend went to Six Flags New England in Agawam, Mass. and wanted to stay in a motel close to the park.
After looking through motel rooms online and debating between Super 8 at 1543 King St. in Enfield and Motel 6 at 11 Hazard Ave. in Enfield, I decided to pick Red Roof Inn after reading that all of their rooms were new.
The Red Roof Inn motel chain designated this location as "Redesignated, rededicated".
As for Motel 6, feedback on Trip Advisor was mixed as well as for Super 8.
There was no negative feedback on Trip Advisor for Red Roof Inn, except for one reviewer claiming the motel was too loud at night, an issue that I did not have on my stay.
While I had originally booked the room online several weeks in advance for a date in the middle of August for $56.55 through the "Red Hot Deal" savings program, I changed nights due to a change in the weather forecast wanting to go to the park on the sunniest forecasted day.
As I found out, if you make an online reservation only days earlier, it costs more and I ended up paying $75.59 with tax through the "Red Hot Deal" program but it was well worth it.
I booked the non-smoking King bed room since the motel has no rooms with queen size beds.
The motel is near Interstate 91 exit 47-E and only 5 miles from Six Flags New England and 8 miles from three major attractions which include Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield Civic Center and Eastern States Exposition.
Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks is only 9 miles away and Hartford, Connecticut's capital city is also nearby.
Upon opening the door to my room via the electronic door lock, I saw the large king size bed with three small pillows and a new comforter on the left with small lighting above each side on the headboard.
A small nightstand was built into the wall on both sides of the bed with one nightstand holding a telephone and an AM/FM alarm clock while the other lay vacant.
Guests can make free local calls and have access to voicemail.
The bed and the pillow were much more comfortable than beds I have slept on in other motels.
On the right side of the room was a comfortable swivel chair with office desk and desk light and directly above, a square mirror.
Next to the desk sat a dresser which featured several free expanded cable channels including ESPN, TNT, USA, Fox News, CNN, and HBO along with an On-demand pay-per-view movie service.
The motel had more channels than others I have stayed at. Unfortunately, the Weather Channel was a national feed with no local forecast and there was no plastic sign near the TV giving a guide to the channels and their respective numbers. The television did not even have a TV Guide Channel.
While the desk had only a golf-sized pencil and not a pen or memo pad to be found, a wireless keyboard was located in the dresser allowing guests to surf the motel's T-Mobile high-speed Wi-Fi Internet for a small nominal fee.
The room also features dataports for those preferring a wired-connection.
A laptop could easily be hooked into the desk or either nightstand through holes covered by black plastic pieces where a wire could fit to charge the laptop or access the Internet.
Unlike some rooms I stayed, it was obvious that it was a non-smoking room and the room had no funky smell and everything, including the carpet looked new.
Japanese-like paintings adorned the wall near the bed while one was affixed to the wall in the bathroom which consists of a toilet and shower.
The sink is outside the bathroom in a large granite counter with a large oval mirror above.
The bathroom featured a curved shower stall and a wooden floor which floods after taking a shower, even with the shower curtain on the inside of the tub, since there is no drain there.
A small green nightlight was built into the light switch and automatically turned on when the light was turned off.
Additional lighting was located above the air conditioner near the window and above the coat rack.
While the curtains blocked out much of the light, around the curtain edges, light from the parking lot lighting partially streamed into the room acting as its own nightlight.
The room featured an ice bucket with plastic bag, complimentary shampoo, hand soap, a Kleenex pack, and plastic cups.
Additionally, those with little ones should be aware that cribs are available upon request and that all kids under the age of 17 stay for free.
Next to the lobby was a room holding snack and soda machines along with an information brochure rack.
In addition to a gourmet coffee area and a small television, the lobby featured Red Roof Inn directories along with a guide to local restaurant, stores, and services.
While several restaurants, Bickford's Restaurant was located right next to the motel and despite the faint parking stripes in the parking lot and potholes in the lot, the food and atmosphere was very good.
Bickfords gives motel guests a 10 percent discount and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with full bar and wine service.
The restaurant is within walking distance to the motel building with the lobby but is definitely too far to walk from the other motel buildings.
Other nearby restaurants include Cracker Barrel, Figaro's, Friendly's, Ninety Nine, Outback Steakhouse, Hazard Grill, McDonald's, Old Country Buffet, Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Ruby Tuesday's, and Wendy's.
Enfield Square Mall is located near the motel and is anchored by a large National Amusements Movie Theater, Sears, Macy's, and Target along with a number of specialty stores.
The motel has a 12:00 p.m. check-out time and a 1:00 p.m. check-in time.
During my stay, a housekeeper knocked on my door several times at 9:45 a.m. and after yelling "Who is it?" several times and receiving no reply, he proceeded to card himself into my room asking me if I wanted it cleaned.
I had told him I did not want the room cleaned and had not yet checked out.
He barely knew any English.
Luckily, the deadbolt allowed him to only open the door about 3-4 inches but unfortunately the motel had no "Do Not Disturb" sign. Perhaps I will stay at a fancier hotel and "borrow" their sign and use it for staying at cheaper ones.
I will admit that most guests check out way before 10 a.m. since they are heading to the park and it is quite odd their checkout time is so late.
Those eager to start their day can enjoy the delivered USA Today that shows up in a plastic bag on the door of each motel room each weekday.
Needless to say after that after the housekeeper incident, I no longer felt guilty or obligated to clean up the flood in the bathroom caused after taking a shower.
Other than the standard king non-smoking room, guests can choose between standard two full beds smoking rooms, standard two full beds non-smoking rooms, accessible business king non-smoking rooms with micro fridge, all-inclusive king with Wi-Fi non-smoking rooms, accessible business king non-smoking rooms with roll-in, and deluxe two full beds non-smoking rooms with micro fridge.
Additionally, guests can bring one behaved family pet per room.
